They missed it.

Royals end the year at 9-3.

 

SC moves on to travel to Belfry for the Region Championship.

Mason Co misses an extra point and then had their chance at the end of regulation and couldn't cash in.

 

All the credit to SC for having big time success running the ball and getting the big stops at the end of regulation and overtime.

 

Just depressing to watch the Mason Co defense get pushed all over the field.

 

With that said, still a tremendous season and those guys should be proud of the success they had. :thumb:

Congratulations to Sheldon Clark on executing their game plan nearly to perfection. Played keep-away for much of the game; it seemed like Mason County only had a the ball for about a minute in the third quarter. Lots of drama the last 8 minutes, but SC had the advantage once they got it to OT.

 

Congratulations also to the Royals on a fine season; you came a long way from that scrimmage at Ashland where it looked like boys playing against men. Great job!

SC has a blueprint they sue in the postseason to pull upsets. Tonight they executed it perfectly! They eat clock and wear teams down, all the while building their confidence.

 

Belfry is about 5 TD's better than SC, but as evident two years ago in the regular season meeting, if Belfry doesn't play focused ball next week and SC uses their blueprint then they could fall victim as well. SC has a very, very tough team and a Coach who takes vchances to pull the upsets. They have me worried.

Mason Co had a outstanding year and did something no Mason Co team has done by going into Flatwoods and winning. They had a great year and were a few plays away for the Final 8.

Great point 'bigblue'! Beating Russell at Russell was a huge achievement for the program and this team will always be the team that made history that night. The Royals had a great year going 9-3 when many didn't think they'd come close to having that kind of success.

 

Congratulations to Coach Buchanan, his staff and the team on a great season! You guys are first class and have made the Ragin' Royal Nation proud!! :thumb:

This is a surprising score to me. I thought Mason County would win this one. Congratulations, though, to Mason County on a great season. I think it's just as well you don't have to make the long drive to Belfry the face the buzzsaw that Russell faced tonight anyway. :-)

I saw the Schmidt clan at Belfry tonight. They looked like they could all suit up and play tackle, even Dad. What a great bunch of guys and great ambassadors for Sheldon Clark's program. Good people.

 

I wonder how many Belfry and Sheldon Clark fans will be thinking about 1998 this week? :sssh:
