QB has made some hurtful decisions....See^^^ Both teams were close to having a lot better seasons. Don't give up on Coach K, needs to recruit with the upmost urgency.

IMVHO they were either blowing smoke up our collective nether regions then or they are doing it now in order to cover theirs. When Kragthorpe arrive there was no reason to anticipate a drop off in talent. I only give him a pass on the injuries. 1) Sure, but only two left. 2) A coach should not have to sit on his players to keep them out of jail, and at least one of them is SERIOUSLY in trouble. I don't know why each of them was dismissed, largely. But, I do think that..make that know that Petrino did FAR more than is reasonable to expect of a coach. A coach should have a reasonable expectation that his players follow the rules, and stay out of trouble, and work as a team. 3) One left for academic reasons, not Kragthorpe's fault. Another left to quit playing football, but is still enrolled at UL, not Kragthorpe's fault. I don't know the reasons for the others. In a nutshell, Kragthorpe is NOT Petrino, and players should adapt to the new coaches rules/ways. Bottom line. Further, one player not on the list, Spillman, WAS given a chance by Kragthorpe, after he was in trouble BEFORE Kragthorpe got there. Kragthorpe kept him, and set rules. Spillman got into trouble again and was dismissed. He's doing well at MTSU, and it seems that Louisville wasn't the place for him...the city, not the school. Spin it any way you wish. Kragthorpe does NOT have the talent now that he had going into it. But, I don't think he can be blamed for a major defection. Players who were dismissed put themselves and the team in that position. Violations of team rules, trouble with the law...those players didn't put the team first. You want to blame someone, blame then. No one told Rod Council to pull a gun in a convenience store. Coach Kraghthorpe has the right to impose a 0 tolerance policy, and not have to try and "hide" things to protect the school. The biggest part of the "talent" loss is in injuries and dismissals. Only one that I see who transferred with no explanation was a huge immediate impact. Of the rest, 1 left because of academics, and 1 left because he quit playing football as a whole. I also know a whole lot of players not on scholarship are still there. Why would they continue to play, without scholarships, if Kragthorpe was so bad?

Then the attrition started. There's no sugar coating that. To be clear again, I am dis-appointed by last season's results. I am also dis-appointed by somethings that have happened this season. But if they end up 7-5, that's about where I thought they'd be. They will get better, Krag's needs time for his kids, there's no denying that.

Keep in mind, I feel that Bobby Petrino is a Top 5 coach in ability in college coaching. Louisville is not a Top 5 job. Sometimes expectations get out of whack with great success.

Sometimes expectations get out of whack with great success. Understood and mostly agree. Petrino top notch coach and made Louisville even better (As he could do at almost any program). Coach K mediocre coach, some but NOT ALL mediocre players and ended up with poor results. I want Coach K to do well. Just don't think it will happen at UL. Again...I can and will eat crow if needed.

They look unprepared and unmotivated. Anyone who knows anything about football can see that. When Kragthorp was hired he was described as "a players coach" and I cringed. I really believe that a head coach NEEDS to be an in your face, I don't care if you like me or not guy. I don't see that in Kragthorp and it has shown in the level of play. There is no fear of this coach thus the stupid penalties that kill drives and the poor fundamental football. You're right, 6-6 would be lauded at many places and perhaps we got spoiled from our success but by the same tokes with the proliferation of bowl games there is no excuse for us not to be going for the second straight year (yes, I've written off the WVU and Rutgers games). The loss to UConn this year and the two losses to Syracuse are inexcusable. The team that played the second half against Cincinnati was not the same team that played the first half. The Big East is way, way down this year and we are poised to finish at the bottom of that heap. That is not acceptable and should not happen under any circumstances. If the coach is going to take the credit when they are successful then he also has to take the heat when they aren't. Finally, as a LONG TIME follower of Louisville football I know just how fickle our fan base is. We can not afford to give Kragthorp to much more time before the base crumbles. We are not a long time established program, nor do we have the luxury of playing in a marquee conference to generate fan interest. If we wait to long I fear we will be back to the days of 10 dollar tickets at Kroger. I know that the people I have purchased season tickets with since Schnellenberger are anxiously waiting to see what cost is going to be next year before deciding to renew. Many people are not willing to spend the kind of money that Louisville is asking for to see the product they are putting on the field.

November 20, 200817 yr ^ Louisville will be back in a BCS bowl game, and sooner rather than later. All Tell, From what I have been told these players are very hungry to "show up", for the staff. They are sickened by the "fans", who really aren't that. Like I said before, we all knew going into this season, that Louisville's margin of error had to be minimal to win games. In their losses they have made crucial, crucial mistakes. In their wins they haven't. Take this Saturday for example. If they don't make mental mistakes, they will win. If they do, they'll lose. Louisville can play with just about anybody, and they can also get beat by just about anybody. It makes for some extreme volatility in emotions as a season progresses.
