November 12, 200817 yr My wife once yelled God's name repeatedly during a moment of passion but it doesn't mean he was in the room.:lol: Are you sure you're not the real Chevy Chase?
November 12, 200817 yr My thoughts. 1. God tells us that nobody knows the time of Christ's return. Not even Jesus, or the angels. I honestly can't imagine God revealing all of this to some guy in a dream. 2. If something were to happen where Obama was unable to be sworn in as our new President, Bush's term in office would not be extended. One of the first things I noticed too, now the guy may not know how the US government works, but I'm pretty sure god does.

November 12, 200817 yr I noticed that too. Bush couldn't take over again regardless of the situation. Hypothetically, what would happen if somebody attacked us on our homeland? I'm not talking about a 9/11 terrorist deal, but a real military strike a la Pearl Harbor. Would we still go through the transition at President if the country was at war?
November 12, 200817 yr One of the first things I noticed too, now the guy may not know how the US government works, but I'm pretty sure god does. Actually, if Obama were not to be sworn in on Jan 20th, Joe Biden has no claim on the office because he wasn't elected to be president. I know that many people would believe that he should become president at that time, but if Obama isn't sworn in then Biden would never be either (since he is technically a member of the Obama administration). This would likely go to the Supreme Court who would have to decide on how to interpret the consitution on this topic because the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 doesn't specify anything about a president-elect (who isn't sworn in). I would say that Biden would likely get the nod on this one but it is possible that it could actually require a run-off election and Bush to stay in office a while longer (not like a full term though, just a few weeks or so). I'm really just playing devil's advocate here (no pun intended). Here it what is specified in the Pres. Succ. Act of 1947 though: Speaker of the House of Representatives President Pro Tempore of the Senate Secretary of State Secretary of the Treasury Secretary of Defense Attorney General Secretary of the Interior Secretary of Agriculture Secretary of Commerce Secretary of Labor Secretary of Health and Human Services Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Secretary of Transportation Secretary of Energy Secretary of Education Secretary of Veterans Affairs Secretary of Homeland Security

Would we still go through the transition at President if the country was at war? We always have. In 1860 Lincoln was elected and by December South Carolina had seceeded. I don't know too much more threatening than that. Still Lincoln took office and then we even held an election in the middle of the Civil War in 1864. The one thing this nation has always done is pretty much follow the Constitution and the 'rules' so to speak.

November 13, 200817 yr [/b] I disagree here! I was speaking in terms of the transitions of power and the Constiutional procedures therein. You can still disagree, I just felt like clarifying what I meant by my statement.

Without the new pres being sworn in, the Speaker of the House would become pres(President Pelosi...I cant hardly even bring myself to type it)!!
November 18, 200817 yr Papa, that was great. I blew Ice tea out of my nose. gross...sorry. Does Scott get paid to speak at churches? I might have a few dreams.

It depends on when Obama would be unable to take office. If its before the Electors meet, which I believe is Dec. 15, the Electors choose the next president. If its after the Electors meet, Biden would become President.
November 18, 200817 yr ^One thing about this, it won't take long for us to know whether his "vision" is legit or not. Consider me skeptical at this point, but if there is indeed some "problem" that surfaces in the next couple of months that sets off a chain of events, including 1) Obama not being sworn in as president, 2) W's presidency being extended, 3) violence erupting inside our nation and 4) all (or nearly all) of our troops being brought home, then I might take it a bit more serious.
