November 7, 200817 yr This is a non-issue for me. I absolutely couldn't care less about the religious background of anybody on this site. I will defend Christianity vigorously but not in a manner that denigrates other religions (unless I can squeeze a good joke out of it).

November 7, 200817 yr I'm tolerant of pretty much anyone of any religion. I'm even good friends with a Muslim, which is something I would've never imagined a couple years ago. Those stupid Scientologists really tick me off though....

November 7, 200817 yr In this great country we are free to believe in most anything we want. I don't care if you're Catholic, Christian, Budist, Christian Scientist, or Jewish. I don't care if you're heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual. I don't care if you're republican, democrat, independent, or libertarian. I don't care if you're liberal or conservative. I don't believe that any are wrong. They all believe in something, and no matter how many of us think that ours is the right way and the right path. We should never condem anyone who believes differently. Hopefully when the end comes all roads lead to one. I firmly believe in open and logical debate on subjects. The only thing I am not tolerant of is people who try to force their beliefs on me. We can disagree without being disagreeable.

November 7, 200817 yr I'm going to throw this out there, and it's my opinion derived from several years of defending my faith on BGP. :lol: What is often perceived as intolerance, or imoposition at times, usually is the result of misunderstanding. I'm no evangelist. I never will be. It's not that there is anything wrong with being one. But, that's simply not what I am compelled to do. Others who seem to be imposing their views feel something. And when I mean feel, I mean a physical compulsion in the general region of their heart, to share their beliefs. I believe that some are genuinely worried about their fellow man. I respect those who ask questions, and discuss differences. But, there are those so firm in their religious beliefs, just as some are so firm in their political beliefs, they simply cannot fathom that anyone or anything that doesn't agree with them have any value, or that they have anything to learn from those who are different. Those are intolerant people. I like to think they're not trying to be, but when someone tells me that there is no way they could ever believe (insert belief), or that I am wrong because (insert reason), then I feel intolerance is prohibitive. IMO, the way to peace anywhere, not just the world, is that we respect one another, and learn from one another. Refusing to do either is what leads to conflict and harm.
November 7, 200817 yr I've read in a couple of places that there is no way that Jesus Christ could have been born on December 25th. That's when the birth is celebrated, however. And I'm sure Martin Luther the King Jr. was born on the third Monday of every January.
