What reason would people have to rank UK any higher. They lost their two leading scorers. They return one reliable threat (Patterson) who is coming back from a major injury. Their second best returning player is a guy who missed nearly the entire season last year and they barely made it to the tourny last year, with the least amount of victories in quite some time.

3/5's of the the starting lineup is unproven, unheralded talent. Now, we know UK will quickly become ranked (mostly due to the schedule) but I see no reason to rank them in the top 25 to start the season. Not if you look at last years success, returning talent and potential.

That being said, I think BCG will get some big time talent in Lexington (already well on his way) soon and will be a force to reckon with. Patterson and Meeks, if healthy, will carry them a long way this year, IMHO.

I think this season we will do good, but next year is the year that I think everybody sees just how good we are. If Patterson comes back next year, UK IMO will be scary...

Conference breakdown:

Big East: 7

ACC: 4

Big 12: 3

Big 10: 3

Pac 10: 3

SEC: 2

WCC: 1

CUSA: 1

Southern: 1

I love the fact that UK is not in the Top 25. Let them fly under the radar and see what they can do as a sleeper for once.

Siena is in front of UK, WOW.

Don't forget about Saint Mary's too!

Siena, St. Mary's, Baylor, Davidson, BYU, and Gonzaga are all ranked above UK. That will change pretty quickly, IMO, but it still hurts to see us that low.

Im not sure if St. Mary lost anyone but they were good last year, better than UK, You think UK will be better than Zaga, that is a joke, They are very talented experienced and deep, all things UK is not this year.

So are you a Duke fan or a UK fan? Because that avatar is crazy man. As a Duke fan I do think that we are ranked a bit to high. With that being said, do I think they could be a top five team? Absolutly. They have a tough non-conference schedule this year which should help them out in the long run. Dont be suprised if Duke has 3 or even 4 losses going to into ACC play.

That's cool if you have your opinion. UK would beat Gonzaga this season and they would easily beat St. Mary's.

I'm a HUGE UK fan, but I have this avatar because the Red Sox didn't make the World Series ;):sssh:

Anyway, I just looked at your Dukies schedule, and I'm not impressed. They are in the 2k Sports Classic, which they might face a good team (UCLA only one that stands out) in that tournament. Then who is there other tough opponents? Purdue? No thanks. Michigan? I'll pass. Xavier? Has potential, but still unsure at this point. Davidson? Stephen Curry is great, but he can't do it alone. Georgetown? Ranked in the top 20, but I dont see them being there at the end of the season. Other opponents are Presbyterian, Georgia Southern, Rhode Island, Montana, Deuquesne, UNC Asheville, Loyola, Md., and St. Johns. Duke will have a good team (Paulus, Scheyer, Henderson, etc), but I don't see them as a Top 5 team, and I also don't seem them making it past the second round...again :thumb:

Surprise Surprise. I have some serious disagreements.

First of all teams ranked too high:

UCLA, Duke, Texas, USC

Teams ranked too low:

Mich St, Arizona St, Davidson, Wake Forest

 You must be a UK fan. What else are they supposed to do? They have 3 possibly 4 top 20 teams on their schedule and you find a way to write them all off.

Who are the 4 top 20 teams you speak of?

UCLA- IF they play them in the tournament, then absolutely.

Purdue- I'm not sold on Purdue, I think they are ranked WAY too high.

Michigan- I hope your not considering them one

Xavier- See Michigan

Davidson- Like I said, Stephen Curry is great, but he needs help. Their all-time leader in assists graduated last year. Who will be the Robin to Curry's Batman? I don't see them doing much this year.

Georgetown- They didnt get it done last year when they had Hibbert and Co. I dont see them being in the top 25 when January rolls around.

The ones I speak of are the ones ranked in the preseason poll. I think Duke is a little over ranked as well but only time will tell. I just found it funny how quick you were to write off Duke's schedule.

Just curious. What can you tell me about Purdue, Xavier and Georgetown???
