Xavier- Duncan isn't much of a loss IMO. "Built like Tarzan, plays like Jane" had a nice tournament, but was pretty bad for most of the season. The key for X is Terrell Holloway at PG. He's a kid I loved watching play the last two summers, and I think he'll ease the pain of losing Lavender.

 

Purdue- Robbie Hummel is one of the best SOPHs in the country, and I think Painter has that program on the rise. E'Twaun Moore gives them some scoring punch on the wing and he's also a great defender.

 

Georgetown- Here's the name to watch out for. PG Chris Wright. He was injured almost all of last year, but did return for the tournament. Kid is going to be great running that system. Not sold on Monroe, so they do have issues in the paint...

Xavier- They are a great A-10 team, but IMO they are just that. Derrick Brown will be tough, as will Anderson and Raymond, but I dont see them doing much of anything outside of the A-10. With them losing Lavender and Duncan, they won't get near as far in the tournament as they did last year, probably a loss in the second round.

 

Purdue- They have the potential to be a pretty solid team, but I'm not sure if they can get over the hump. They have almost everyone returning from their "Baby Boilermakers" last season, which saw a second round loss in the tournament. Maybe they've matured into a team to be reckoned with. I'll believe it when I see it.

 

Georgetown- Lost Hibbert. Lost Wallace. Lost Little Ewing. Yes, they still have Summers and Sapp, which means they will still have a successful season. But I wouldn't be surprised if they ended the season with 13-15 losses.

 

Georgetown returns Summers and Sapp. Two very good players. However, you failed to mention Freeman and Wright. Those two are going to be very good. Not to mention Monroe. As soon as they get the system down, they will be tough.

 

I think Purdue will be very good, as young as they are and as good as they were last year. They will continue to improve, IMO.

Your right, losing the leading scorer, 4th in rebounding, second in blocks, and senior leadership is easily replaced in the collegiate level. :lol:

I think Duke is right where they should be for preseason. Most of you guys don't realize how good they will be this year. Their guard depth is tops in the country. With two new bigs to bang down low and they get solid production from them they will contend.

At a school like Almighty Duke, maybe not. But at a school like Xavier, we shall see.

What reason would people have to rank UK any higher. They lost their two leading scorers. They return one reliable threat (Patterson) who is coming back from a major injury. Their second best returning player is a guy who missed nearly the entire season last year and they barely made it to the tourny last year, with the least amount of victories in quite some time.

 

3/5's of the the starting lineup is unproven, unheralded talent. Now, we know UK will quickly become ranked (mostly due to the schedule) but I see no reason to rank them in the top 25 to start the season. Not if you look at last years success, returning talent and potential.

 

That being said, I think BCG will get some big time talent in Lexington (already well on his way) soon and will be a force to reckon with. Patterson and Meeks, if healthy, will carry them a long way this year, IMHO.

Not really. Wake returns all of their best players including the top 7 scorers to go with the additions...

Duke's schedule is a lot tougher than usual, but still not real tough. Purdue is for real, the possibility of facing UCLA is a big time match-up, and Georgetown is going to be big time IMO. Summers is a stud. I'm not sold on X or Davidson being very good this year. I think Duke is about right. They have a real good nucleus of Paulus, Smith, Scheyer, Singler, and Henderson....If Thomas has developed at all or Plumlee or Czyz can come in and contribute right away they could be real good.

That's cool if you have your opinion. UK would beat Gonzaga this season and they would easily beat St. Mary's.

 

That is also your opinion, you have no stats to back you up, Im saying im not sure what St. Mary's has, but they were good last year, Gonzaga didn't lose anyone beside Pendergraph on a team that was head and shoulders better than UK last year. To say UK is better is laughable, and your blinders are very very blue.
