Storm's Path Still Leaning South Of Area So Far POSTED: 8:02 am EST January 25, 2009 UPDATED: 1:42 pm EST January 25, 2009 CINCINNATI -- Just a warning -- It might be a good time to get that snow shovel you've been putting off buying.An oncoming winter storm could bring significant snow to all, part or little of the Tri-State early this week, depending on the path the storm takes.The National Weather Service said that a storm system expected to arrive Monday night could bring the first serious snowfall of the season. In a somewhat uncommon situation, the heavier snowfall is expected to fall south of Cincinnati. A winter storm watch is already in place for almost all of Kentucky except for the northern Kentucky counties that fall within in the News 5 viewing area.The NWS is predicting as much as four inches of snow in Louisville and three inches in Lexington Monday night and Tuesday. But Maysville, Ind., to the east and north of Louisville, could see six inches of snow.The heaviest snow is currently expected between Lexington and the Ohio River, and forecasters aren't certain how far north the strongest part of the storm will strike. The NWS said as of 1 p.m. Sunday that southwest Ohio could escape with a small amount of snow.Forecasters warned that "the greater chance for moderate snow accumulation remains close to and south of the Ohio River, but if the track of the (storm) ends up being further north, heavier snow accumulation will occur closer to the Interstate 70 corridor."Some sort of winter storm alert is likely to be issued for the Tri-State sometime Sunday or early Monday. News 5's Randi Rico said that the storm could stick around into Wednesday.There also exists a possibility of a period of freezing rain and/or sleet within Tuesday's snow.Stay tuned to News 5, News 5 Weather Plus and WLWT.com for the latest information on this weather situation.

The forecast this week will turn out to be the biggest joke of a winter and summer full of jokes for weathermen, they've covered all the bases from dusting to rain,freezing rain,heavy snow, below freezing,above freezing. I think they secretly work for Kroger:D

January 26, 200917 yr Nothing here in Owsley County so far. The latest forecast says 3 to 4 inches of snow Tuesday, mixed with sleet and freezing rain. But then another weather model says some snow, some sleet, and finishing up with heavy rain. I just want to re-live my childhood of home-made sleds and try it again. Come on snow! Give me a little fun. I want to ride off that hill one more time.
