The same reason everybody turns the ball over a lot against the Jackets. The last time we played Corbin we won, and made them our home coming game. If I was a redhound fan, I would be pressuring Corbin to play this game just to get redemption for that alone.Corbin gets credit for a whole lot of things they really do not accomplish. The reason they do not schedule this game is that way Corbin fans can keep beliving they could win 9 out of 10 against the Jackets. First, give credit where credit is due. A few years ago Williamsburg executed their gameplan and Corbin didn't. They won fair and square.

 

Next, I don't feel Corbin has anything to prove to Williamsburg. In my opinion, redemption would be beating NCC in the playoffs not beating the Jackets.

 

Also, I think Corbin fans feel like the Hounds would beat the Jackets most of the time. Would you expect anything else? The Jackets wouldn't go into a game thinking they were going to lose so what's the difference?

 

Finally, saying that Corbin gets credit for things they don't accomplish is a little bit of a stretch. If the Hounds do get credit for anything other than winning district, regional, or state titles then I can assure you that its meaningless to Redhound fans and players.

I agree, 0934. Some of the programs in the state's seasons are based on Regional and State Titles. Some are based on District Titles.

Corbin is one of the ones that Region and State are expected every year. It does not matter to most of their fans who they lose to in the regular season, as long as the end result is the same every year.

Beating Corbin is way more important to LC or Williamsburg than Beating LC or Williamsburg is to Corbin.

"Probablly"? We both know the Jackets will roll in this one! He also did not say they wouldn't win 9 of 10 either. As far as Bethlehem IMO a mistake for Corbin to be playing them in the first place, they could not help it if they would not play.

Why not try to do both? Those two things do not conflict with each other in the least bit.

I agree they have a mystique, but it is my opinnion the only way they get to keep it is to avoid playing everybody else. They have accomplished great things in the past, and I do not take anything away from their past. They are still a good team, but they are not so dominate that they can just run over everybody. I think you are giving to much credit.

I really don't want to slight any team in the area because each and every kid play their hardest and work just as hard as anyone else. How in the world can Corbin agree to play every team in the area. What would there be to prove? I have nothing but respect for Lynn Camp and Williamsburg. I really really do. If they were to play 10 games, Corbin would at least win 9 out of the 10 and there is a really good chance of sweeping them. Don't ask me why that is but it's how it shakes out most years.

 

I'd like to see Whitley on the schedule but I'd also like to see Danville and Boyle on there which may be the case soon. If I had my druthers, give me Danville and Boyle when it comes to being a bigger game. If I had my pick, I'd rather play Whitley than South. Not because of a competative factor but because of the fact Whitley and Corbin are similar and would provide good games. South provides good games but I just simply do not like South Laurel and would just as soon not have Corbin do anything to help them out. I'd like to see North replaced by a Harlan Co, Rockcastle, or Bell County.

LC and Corbin have spoken about games in the future.

I really don't think I am giving them too much credit. Yes, Williamsburg beat them a few years ago. Corbin is still dominant over them and that could have been the one game out of 10.

All of the tri-county teams have improved from 15 to 20 years ago, but Corbin is still the team doing it year in and year out. The 1A schools (LC and W'burg) are going to have to go through cycles that will keep us from ever being that "dominant" team.

Whitley, for a 5A, goes through some cycles, too, which is kind of strange for a big school.

That's a good reason not to play South. As for helping out, I believe both schools like the gate each school brings to the respective home game.

I know it's a two way deal. I'm just saying anything that I wouldn't do anything if it benefited South Laurel. Then again if we didn't play, I'd have no reason to hate them the way I do.

Whitley would give Corbin all they want and more this year and they appear to have the athletes to do that for the next several years. Corbin is the traditional power but I believe Coach Black has got Whitley were they will be competitive on a consistent basis. Corbin vs. Whitley would be a head knocker and the game I would most want to see scheduled in the area.

Does South's attendance pick up that much when playing Corbin? I've never been to a Corbin/SL game but I've not been impressed with South's crowd against others.
