No team has tested Central this year like Bryan Station did. That game ended in a 35 – 31 win for the Eagles. The Tomcats just recently got a peek at this same team. I believe Station has provided a glimpse of what we can expect this Friday night. Also, most of the Tomcat faithful have long memories…we remember very well how the last three meetings went with Central (7-35, 21-28 & 33-67)…all of which were played in Paintsville.

Congratulations to Mr. Dillon (Dillion?) on the unblemished record as a starting qb. I am a bit curious though…I noticed that in the first 7 games of this season, Dillon is 7-10-2 in passing for 46 yards and 1 td. As a rusher, also in the first 7 games, he has accumulated 64 total yards on 19 attempts and has scored 2 touchdowns. I assume he “started” the Montgomery Co game, but unfortunately, that data has not been published in the khsaa site yet. When I looked at the stats for 2007, I didn’t find his name at all. The 16-0 record you point out must be a combination of something other than varsity wins…still an impressive stat though.

In his sophomore season(2006), Dennis took over the reigns at QB after JK Ratliff went down in the early part of the season with a broken collarbone. He started the 7 or 8 weeks while JK was out. Thats why he has the 16-0 record when starting at QB.

 

Dennis Dillon's contributions to the offense isnt as much passing ability and athleticism, but his leadership and ability to carry out his fakes which is a major ingredient of what makes the wishbone so tough to defend.

I think some people are going to be surprised by the final score of this game. Ashland 2008 is not Ashland 2007.

 

I agree with this, Ram. I like Ashland's chances much more this year than last. Unfortunately, I still think JC is the class of the area and should win this game. My heart is with the Tomcats, but the facts point towards JC.

There is no question that the Tomcats of 2007 are not the Tomcats of 2008. But at the same time, the Eagles of 2007 are not the Eagles of 2008. I personally believe this game is going to be close. Both teams battling for a district title, we all are aware of the recent history of these two teams, and what I feel is a major rivalry in the making.

I was there to experience the madness, that's why Im well aware of the mystic of Putnam Stadium. I expect both teams to come out and play their best game to date with all thats at stake. It would be nice to pack Putnam out will all the surrounding communities, but I have a feeling Johnson Co. and Ashland we do a pretty good job. Best of luck to the Rams friday with the Red Devils.:thumb:

Ashland has improved, but the Eagles seem to just keep rolling along like a runaway train. I think it will be tight early, but JC pulls away in the 4th quarter.

With a 16-0 record as starting quarterback, and the lack of offensive statistics, I knew Dillon had to be more than just a lucky charm. Providing a cool head under fire and maintaining control of the offense are intangibles which never show up on stat sheets….but those attributes sure are present in the W/L column for the team.

The best Ashland fans can hope for is that Dillon was the QB agianst Brian Station, Which he was not. The Back up QB fumbled seven times four of which station recovered. A stat that you can throw out when Dillon steps under center Friday night in Ashland. He don't have to throw when the team has 3,000 plus yards on the ground agianst alot better competition, then the EAGLES will face on Friday. Lets see if you are laughing at the QB Friday with three minutes left in the fourth JC 64 and Ashlad whatever Matney allows them.

There is no way JC will put up 64 points against Ashland. I love it. I hope the tomcats take this comment and turn it into fuel for the game. Hey, Tomcats this is what they think of you. Have some pride and show them. Always respect the team you play. Don't ever give in to no one. Fight for every inch. You can pull out a victory.

Sounds like some people don't think to much about Ashland's defense.

 

I hope the Tomcat players read and respond. Apparently, some people think that Johnson Central will score on EVERY possession. The Tomcat defense must be very weak, in fact, they must be one of the softest defenses in the state.
