WOW! I look at it as it's their gamble for putting their 1's in and risking injury. Did they try to put one more up quickly at the end or did they kneel on it?

 

Don't know wasn't there. Dayton already has a small team and from what I heard is that they lost 2 players before the game do to injury in warmups. One of the players is a starter on the o-line. Don't know extent of the injuries but now it just spreads the team thinner than they already are. I also couldn't see Coach Deaton running up the score on any team. If he put his starters back in the game I'm sure he was just protecting a lead.

Dayton showed there lack of class by playing there starters on the last offensive set. That really shows some insecurity from there Head coach.

 

Are you kiddin' me? They had their 2's (and some freshmen) in the entire fourth quarter on D and were rotating guys on the O. Brossart cut the lead to 44 ta 21 so Dayton put in their 1's, scored on an 80 yard run, then the freshmen were back in.

 

What was lack of class was the Brossart coaching staff complaining to officials about the cheerleaders having a foot in the coaches box and instead of asking them to move making the white hat tell them... Just ask them to move next time.

So Dayton pulls their starters and BBHS scores two TD's with their starters? Or was it the second string BBHS kids that scored the last two TD's? If they left them in, then Coach Deaton should have put his 1's back in to send a message.

They didnt need to send out the starters again. They had the game won. Brossart is a second year team with freshman starting not a lot of subs can be made. As far as the officials go they told the coaching staff to tell them if they were in the box and that they would say something and didnt want the staff to ask them to move.

Interesting there is so many complaints this year about it. I believe that they have always been there. The cheerleaders moved to the other side of the 50 and past the 25 so that they pretty much cheer to a hill.

Dayton sent in their 2's and BB left in their 1's and scored two TD's. So Deaton put his 1's back in, scored on an 80 yard run, then put the 2's back in. I believe BB put their 2's in for the last series of the game.

 

It also appeared to me that BB had as many or more players as Dayton.

That was ridiculous. They were on the opposite 30 yard line when the white hat stopped play and walked 50 yards in the opposite direction to tell the cheerleaders to move a foot...

Wow guys--It's a football game?? Two winless teams, playing a meaningless (except to them) game; and all this controversy. I doubt either team has much in the way of 2nd, much less 3rd stringers?? Again, good win for Dayton!!

I really don't think that Coach Deaton was concerned about the outcome at that point, but didn't want the Mustangs to cut any further into the Dayton cushion and sent his bigs in to get one back. He reinserted his 1s for a play (or two) against Brossart's 2s and the result was a quick 80 yard TD and a final of 55-21. I think that the BB coaching staff and our fans concern was that we had our defensive 2s on the field at the time, and what did the late TD against our 2s prove?

 

I've always been of the school that if you don't like it - get better, and I do believe that Coach Deaton was benevolent by playing his 2s throughout the

4th quarter. What he discovered was, that while Brossart may be somewhat inferior to his 1s, we were seemingly far superior to his 2s and it was showing up on the scoreboard. I'm sure that if we hadn't scored, or only scored once that the Dayton 1s would have never seen the field again.

 

As far as the cheerleading issue goes, I know that they have had problems there in the past, and I think the girls did a good job of staying out of the BB box. I think we have bigger issues to concern ourselves with than if the cheerleaders have penetrated a foot or two into our coaching box. Maybe just a bit of frustration surfacing at that ponit in the game.

I truly understand that Brossart hasn't had much success on the Varsity level, and when they are playing well, why stop what is working. Let them grab the momentum and hopefully develop some confidence in the process. However, I think coaches (winning or losing) take it personal when they have pulled their starters and are allowing their younger kids to grab some clock, and announce to everyone that you are done with putting points on the board, but the opposing coach does not reciprocate. I wouldn't have expected Brossart to pull their starters at the beginning of the quarter, but with 3:00 minutes to go in the game, to have them still in? Coach Deaton probably didn't think to much of that, and sent the starters back out to tell Coach Reinhart (sp?) that if you can do it, so can I. That doesn't mean it was right, and I know they schedule JV games for the younger kids to play, but there comes a point when you have let the JV kids go in and mop up the remainder of the minutes.
