Gotcha. I am familiar but never been that way. I grew up in Middletown and then moved to Oldham County.

Ahhh....One of "them."

Let us know how it goes.

Will do. I'm going down there and taking a video camera to document proof

My grandfather (I never knew him he was born in 1899 and died before I was born) spent some time here, I visited once for a Halloween thing and was very disappointed because it was only a typical haunted house with every thing about the building covered up so you didn't really get to see any rooms or have any kind of background given to you, just people in in masks jumping out at you behind fabricated walls. I think I read in the paper that the owners were trying to make a hotel out of it going on the haunted theme but that the company they hired to renovate it was a fraud or something like that.

They also have tours instead of the haunted house. I remember seeing the haunted house taking place in the front of the building while I was there for my tour about 5 years ago.

Looks like an interesting place. What are the haunted rumors surrounding the place? The spirits of dead patients still walking the hallways?

Room 502 is the subject of a local myth about two suicides which are said to have occurred in the room. The first reported death is that of Nurse Mary Hillenburg, who is said to have hanged herself from a fixture in 1928 after becoming pregnant out of wedlock. The second reported death is that of a nurse who is said to have been pushed or jumped out the window

I have never been there, but I hope on going sometime. The places looks awesome.

My mom is a nurse and worked there for six weeks back in the mid 60s, when the TB patients were still there. I didn't find that out until about 2 years ago!

Hard as heck to get a tour reservation at this place. Tried to sign up for a tour this week for me and my 14 year old son, but they're booked through the end of the tour season! (November)

Hoping they'll have a cancellation...

Fascinating history. Room 502 is one of the reputed "haunted" spots...the nurse hanging is not myth, but fact...the other reported suicide in that room is unproven legend...

Now, whether the nurse is still there, haunting the place...who knows? :creepy:

If you can get a big enough group together they will do it at any time of year.

Hard to justify blowing $20 plus parking on this attraction. How long does the haunting last?

I've always wanted to go but I heard the line is long... A three hour wait or something...

There are supposed to be "Shadow People" all over the place. Room 502 has already been outlined byothers. The ghost of a small boy who will roll balls down the hall. And the body chute, where a lot of freaky stuff is supposed to occur.

Ghost Hunters, the Sci-Fi Channels hit show, chose it last year for their all night Live broadcast.

Last year when I went, it was two different haunted houses, and it took almost an hour.
