Where and when is this game being played?

X plays 2-3 juniors on jv.

Are they Juniors who play in varsity games each week? Or do they warm the bench? Didn't really seem to matter in that game...Trinity won. Not that this is for this thread and has been vetted enough. I don't see what the huge issue with playing a junior on JV if they have VERY little impact on the varsity team. Good learning experience for the kid.

 

My prediction on the H vs X JV game. 14 - 13 Highlands coming out with the win. If the game was played at X the win goes to them.

By 3 I'm assuming you mean a field goal. This got me thinking, I know that is a dangerous thing, but how many times this year has Highlands gone for a field goal if any? With their starting kicker out, I really can't remember when Highlands has attempted one. Maybe the Colerain game, I don't know, but with Weinel out I don't think Highlands has attempted one. I'm mostly thinking about the Varsity games here. I have not seen all the JV games so someone that has been to the JV games can fill me in here.

 

yes I did mean 3 points.

1 on defense and 5 on offense. As opposed to 10 on Trinity's defense and 6 on offense.

Well, like others have stated, we're already with our back against the wall from a numbers standpoint and that's including using the freshmen on JV. If we have kids that'll miss for the ACT, then who knows who'll be in the lineup. I think if there are kids that do not start on varsity, they should be playing JV anyway just to be getting the reps. I think that the JV team as I saw it last, should be the one out there. I don't forsee risking Bardo or any other Varsity players for a JV game. Now if they bring back Austin, who was the starting QB at the beginning of the year, then that's understandable. Either way, and with whatever lineup that is decided upon, I'll be there with bells on. I wish the spirit shop people would come to JV games. It's not as crowded and it would give people an opportunity to buy more. I know Henry, you'll tell me to get involved, but I have been trying for a few months now and haven't made too many connections yet. I just think that if they would sell items at the JV and Frosh home games, you'll make a lot more money having more space for people to buy. I also think they should work something out with the FTJFL to sell during their games as well. The Varsity games are so crowded and when you try to walk by it seems too closterphobic.

I seem to recall that the spirit shop was open in the stadium during one of the first weeks of the football season, when there was a JV home game and a lot of FTJFL games on the same day. Additionally, there was one home JV game when the spirit shop was open in the gym lobby, and the announcer (Nieporte) mentioned it at least 40 times during the course of the game. I'm sure it takes a lot of effort to get the large boxes out and set up to sell, so they want to make sure that it is worth the time and effort.

 

Hopefully, this Saturday, with a great JV game and FTJFL on both ends, there will be a sizable crowd perusing all the warmer gear for late season and playoff games.

As BG bird pointed out, the boosters did sell at early FTJF league games and at a JV game or two. It takes alot to open up and sell for that many games. The Spirit shop is a full time job in itself. Hats off to those that take on that trememdous job of ordering and organizing and selling all year long. You can buy Highlands gear in the bookstore at the school any day of the week during school hours in case you just have to have that sweatshirt for the cold weather.:thumb:

1 FTJFL game before (3rd & 4th Graders -- should be a hoot to compare sizes as the JVs come out to warm up) & 3 in Death Valley (5th/6th) before & during -- final games, so kids will be turning in equipment after their games in the same general area where the Spirit Wear is sold; should be high foot traffic because of that

That is exactly why I don't think you will see an altered line up. How would that look if they brought a bunch of non-regulars down to play Sat. and St. X still won. Not good for the program. Also, if you look at the Colerain JV game, wasn't that with the regular JV players and I wouldn't think St. X is any better than them.

 

Game really means nothing other than to give your JV players the chance to play against the best JV that's out there. That's why both agreed to play each other IMO. With that said, "GO BIRDS"

 

Only difference is the varsity BYE this week. Some had suggested earlier that without a game the night before, the JV roster might swell for this matchup. I doubt it, but we'll see.

There is also an AAU Basketball Tournament going on Sat. and Sun.....:thumb:

Nice link to that other thread gamehuntr, I am sure that if you look on any program there may be some kids that play both Varsity and JV. I just view it as a huge risk, especially for a kid from a school with the numbers that X has. I understand use the talent that you have, but when you have 6 deep in the running back spot, maybe you could find enough kids to not have people playing on both sides of the ball, or on 2 teams either. Ideally, you would like to have enough kids to not having anyone be forced to play Offense and Defense, and if you are lucky, Special teams as well. I think we should all just wait to see what happens Saturday.
