I was really impressed with number 15, he seemed to be able to run or pass for first down at will. Kept hoping he would hand it off. I left in the fourth quarter because my friend had to get up early tomorrow. The score was 28-0 then and it looked like Catholic was competitive at the time but had no chance of making up the difference. I enjoyed the game and atmosphere despite the outcome. Got to talk to several highlands fans around me and they were all good people. Hope we get a rematch next year.

Birds keep on rolling. I don't see anyone in 5A being able to stop them. They are firing on all cylinders.

Good win for the Birds agains what was definitely a tough opponent. The score doesn't give away the intensity of this battle. Lex Cath put together some good drives against the Birds' defense. But the Highlands "D" held tough in the trenches when they had to.

 

By the way, for anyone who was wondering, that wasn't me that got hit by the kicked ball at halftime. It was a young man in a wheelchair (I believe he had CP) from Paris, KY. He was so excited to be attending his very first Highlands game, having always wanted to see us play. I made sure to warn them about the cannon. They didn't know a thing about it. He jumped at every shot; but he loved it. Anyway, he wasn't hurt by the ball that landed square in his lap. In fact, I think he was honored to have gotten "in the game." :thumb:

 

Bingo! I've got a feeling there are going to be a lot of boys on both teams waking up just a tad bit sore this morning. There was a lot of hard hitting going on. That 4th and goal stop was impressive. There were people smacking each other and bodies were flying all over the place.

 

I know that LexCath is young, but they've really come a long way from the beginning of the season. Coach Letton has done another very fine coaching job this year. The 4A playoffs should be very interesting this year.

From the start of the game it appeared that this may be a test. Just watching LC warm up, they looked huge! They hit hard as well. Let's get some rest and watch lots of film and be ready next week.

I looked it up myself he is #88.. I would of never guessed that in a million years..8 is the coaches son.. He was very athletic and caught the ball well..

I would think that it was #88 since he got most of the snaps at TE. I don't know if he was 6'5", but he was a big kid who was not utilized at all in the flats. He had one catch that I remember on a quick out, and he was quickly helped off of his feet, but he didn't go down w/out a fight.

I didn't know just because I heard they split him out alot..He definately was a non factor for sure..You really couldn't tell heights because they were all pretty tall..

I dont think anybody in the state of KY can beat Highlands. Even St.X or Trinity!!!

Highlands has comparable talent to X among the starters but X seems to have much deeper talent. X also has a great kicking game. Highlands is good but wouldn't beat X in my opinion.

I agree that putting Highlands above these other teams is a little overboard. But don't judge our kicking game on what you saw last night; it's usually a lot better. I believe there are some injuries involved.

Speaking of injuries...I counted about 15 LexCath players that looked like the walking wounded in street clothes and their jerseys. That seems like a lot.
