Dixie's coming off a big win against Holmes last week, but is it going to be enough against Boone County?

No, I think Boone County will take this one. I don't think it will be a blow out, but it won't be down to the wire either. Kind of hope I'm wrong though. I wouldn't mind Dixie putting it to Boone

It may be a stretch for Dixie to pull this out, but they do seem to have found a formula. And upsets have been happening, I'll take Dixie in this one 24-16

I think Boone wins but agree that it will be a fairly close game. This is the time of year that Dixie finally starts playing pretty well. I think Boone 24-17

If Dixie can limit the big plays, which killed them in the SK game, then they can pull off the upset.

After seeing the way Boone handled Sk last week I really don't see Dixie winning this or keeping it close.

I wasn't using the Sk game as a means of making my prediction but rather how well Boone has played as of late and dominated the opposition.

I've read that often on here and I know that a lot of people think that's because of Dixie's allegedly weak off season conditioning program (and hence, they have to play themselves into shape). But I'd like to hear people's thoughts as to whether they think Dixie's strength of schedule during the season may have as much or more to do with Dixie's past trend of winning more games later in the year than early. I don't have Dixie's current or past schedule committed to memory, but I seem to recall that when Dixie was a 4A school, they played teams like Highlands and CovCath early in the year and played their district 4A games later in the year. I attributed part of their late season successes to the simple fact that the 4A schools in N. Ky (with some occasional exceptions) just weren't very strong ( a belief I think shared by the Guru). Thus, some of Dixie's late season success may have been more due to the teams they faced towards the end of the year just not being as good as those they faced in the early part of the season and not due to conditioning issues.

 

 

Somewhat in support of my "theory" are the CovCath matchups last year. Dixie beat them the first time they played them and I think it was towards the earlier or middle part of the season. One would think that if the Dixie gets stronger as the year goes longer (due to Dixie working its way into shape), then Dixie would have beaten CovCath even worse when they matched up again in the playoffs, but that didn't happen. CovCath won and I think pretty easily if my 50, soon to be 51, year old memory is working correctly.

I don't think conditioning is quite the factor this year as it has been in past years. They have changed that somewhat, and IMO, it seems to have worked.

 

They generally do play better competition early in the season, which for most teams, may be the reason they struggle early and then seem to progress as the season goes on.

 

IMO, the biggest reason they've struggled these past few years, is that it takes them a long time to find the right personnel on both sides of the ball, and the right identity on offense. Most teams can figure this out in the offseason, if not during the scrimmages. For some reason, it takes Dixie 4 or so games into the season to find the right chemistry. This year can be somewhat understandable since they lost a large senior class.

I don't think Boone will blow the Colonels out, but I'd be suprised if the won by less than 14.

I hate to say this, I really do, but I think Boone just has too much for the young Colonels to handle. Of course I stated on this forum that I thought the Dixie-Holmes matchup would go into overtime.

I have only gotten to see Dixie play SK this year, and from that I predict they will win pretty big Quianno might break a record if they play like they did against Miles Simpson and Co.
