Candidates for the Clemson job....

Featured Replies

Hmm, out of those 5 I believe Muschamp would be the best fit, IMO..

Will Muschamp is clearly the smart choice...

Here is a name for you to chew on, Tommy Tubberville. He isn't being treated well at Auburn I would compare him at Auburn to Tubby at UK just before he left. He is a good coach, with a good record and Clemson is about the same shape as Auburn was when he took them over.

Bobby Johnson makes sense with his ties to the school and his success at Vandy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; I don't understand why BCS schools with openings don't go after Pat Hill from Fresno St. He would have been a good fit at UCLA, didn't get it. I thought he was good for Stanford, didn't get it. Maybe he'll get a look at the Washington job when it comes open.

It was mentioned before on this site, but doesn't Joker Phillips have a lot of recruiting ties in S.C.? It would probably be easier to consistently win at Clemson than at U.K. (conference, recruiting base, football tradition). He may get a call from the Clemson A.D. I wouldn't be surprised.

I said on the other thread, but I think Spurrier may be a potential candidate. Clemson has/gets more talent than SC and it would get him out the toughest confrence in america. A Spurrier led Clemson team would be one of the favorites every year in the ACC. IMO.

If you listen closely you can hear the buckle close on Bobby P's suitcase.:D

:laugh: I don't think Clemson would be that stupid.

Lane Kiffin anyone?

Yep.

Well, the interim coach now, Swinney, will have a shot at getting it for good & then you have rumors of Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp and Ex Raiders Head Coach, Lane Kiffin.

Spurrier is a little old. I would think they are looking for someone that will stay a while. Some of the on-line posters were talking about Rich Rod at Mich. I dont know if there is anything to this but stranger things have happened. After Petrino, I would believe anything!:D

Now that is funny! :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Bud Foster, Virginia Tech's defensive coordinator has said he would be interested in the position. Foster does not have any head coaching experience, but he was a finalist for the Broyles Award (Nation's top assistant coach) in 2001, 2005, and 2006 (winner 2006). Foster's defense is consistently one of the best in the nation. Think he has a shot?

Tubberville to Clemson and Petrino to Auburn.:D

It honestly wouldn't surprise me, I don't see Arkansas as a place he wants to coach long term...

Didn't Auburn try to get Petrino for a long time?

I know Petrino is a mover, but I doubt he gets another job this quick.

What about Cutcliffe at Clemson?
