October 12, 200818 yr I only have my internet service through Insight and I've had no problems. I have satellite for TV and never plan on going back to cable.
October 12, 200818 yr Insight is awesome. We had the bundle with Cincy Bell for a while. Insight rocks Ma Bell:thumb:
October 13, 200818 yr Author If you go with their Digital and HD package, are ALL the channels digital with great picture? How much room is on the DVR, and does it store items in folders, or just by list?
October 13, 200818 yr Well, with Cincy Bell, Zoomtown, Cell Phone, and Directv, I'm paying around $250 a month. With the HD Cable, Phone, and Broadband it would be about $130, and I can get different cell phones for about $50 a month. With my current setup, I'm paying about $210 a month on the same. It essentially breaks down to $70/month for Directv, Home Phone/Internet, and cell phones for two. For the bundled package from Insight, I was looking at around $125 or $135 before taxes.

From my experience in Louisville last year, to get the HD package, you were required to subscribe to digital cable. All the channels should be digital, but the quality looked horrible on an HD screen. With DirecTV, the standard definition channels still look okay - nothing like HD, but equal to my old CRT TV. As for DVR space, Insight had I think 60 hours standard definition and 15 hours HD. DirecTV has 200 hours standard def and 50 hours HD.
October 18, 200817 yr Author With Insight's DVR's, you can record something, and watch a different channel at the same time, correct?
October 20, 200817 yr With Insight's DVR's, you can record something, and watch a different channel at the same time, correct? I'm not sure about their non-HD DVR, but the HD DVR has two tuners. You can watch one channel while recording another. You could also record two channels and watch a previously recorded show at the same time.
October 28, 200817 yr Author Just an update, I had Insight Phone and Internet installed today. Couldn't give up the directv. I am a huge baseball fan, and get the Extra Innings package every year, and with the MLB channel coming in January, and Insight having neither available, I just couldn't give up the Direct. I'm happy with the phone and internet so far.
October 28, 200817 yr I would love to have DirecTV for the NFL ticket but my experience with Insight HD has been good. One complaint I have is that the DVR is very slow to react way too often. Is it true that they have a new model and I can have my old one replaced without charge?

I'm pretty sure they will replace your old one without charge, but I don't know if they have a newer model or not.

I experienced the same thing you speak of with the old system, very slow to respond, etc. The new system is upgraded quite a bit...the issue is still however present when it comes to reaction time. You get a bigger HDD so you can record additional programming, as well as two tuners so you can record two shows at once, but the speed issue was not resolved!
