October 2, 200818 yr . . . our Senators have taken the earmark-laden 110 page House Bill and produced a whopping 400 page Senate bailout bill that includes, among other stalwart needs, funding of market research for wool products, motorsports funding for South Carolina, buying wooden bows and arrows for children, and significantly, modifying the excise tax on rum.
October 2, 200818 yr Being that the law is your area of expertise, please refresh my memory, after seeing the thread title, of my "duty to warn"...

Imagine how great this country could be, if we actually had elected officials that would work together.
October 2, 200818 yr Politicians at their best. Imagine how great this country could be, if we actually had elected officials that would work together. :thumb:I don't see how anyone could possibly argue that.

October 2, 200818 yr They're going off on these earmarks on Morning Joe. I wish someone (or some news organization) would publish a list identifying the politicians who added this crap to an emergency bailout bill.
October 2, 200818 yr Every single one that voted for this needs to be voted out when they run for re-election.
October 2, 200818 yr How about we require our Congressmen to actually read the entire bill? We wouldn't see a vote for weeks.
October 2, 200818 yr How about we require our Congressmen to actually read the entire bill? We wouldn't see a vote for weeks. Most would just lie about reading the bill - plus the bill requring the reading of bills would undoubtedly be loaded with pork to gain its passage.
October 2, 200818 yr I was reading over the bill that was linked in the New Bailout Bill thread but couldn't find these items in there.
October 2, 200818 yr They're going off on these earmarks on Morning Joe. I wish someone (or some news organization) would publish a list identifying the politicians who added this crap to an emergency bailout bill. McCain said he would publish a list if he were elected. Obama followed suit and said he would set up a website to post these. I hope whomever wins follows thru with this campaign promise. This 'pork' is why I dislike politicians in general. Just sad. Or how about bringing back the line item veto?
October 2, 200818 yr woodsrider, I didn't read the whole thing, but I specifically saw the motorsports thing.
