I know there is a strong Brandon Webb following on here, but I think the numbers back Tim Lincecum of the Giants for the NL Cy Young.

He'd get mine. Normally, I'd never vote for a guy who only played half the season, but the way he pitched down the stretch, repeatedly going on three days rest and helping them get to the playoffs, is the deciding factor for me.

 

I doubt he'll win it, but I think he should.

The fact that C.C. basically pitched the Brewers into the playoffs and Webb didn't could be a deciding factor. Like the MVP, it depends on your view of what the award should be.

Like I said, I normally wouldn't vote for a guy that played half the season (in the NL), but like you said, the fact that he pitched them into the playoffs is huge. Combine that with his dominating numbers in the NL, and I have to give him the nod.

 

He might even warrant some MVP consideration, although I'm not sure I'd go that far.

Of the 14 who did not win the award, only one lost to a pitcher who had less than 20 wins (Atlanta’s Mike Hampton in 1999 who lost to Arizona’s Randy Johnson).

It's interesting that of the three, Sabathis gets the fewest run support (4.7 runs per nine innings), followed by Lincecum (4.92) and Webb (5.00)

I agree, but his 22 wins, and his low ERA is definitely an indicator on the great season that Webb had. Webb would have probably won this going away if not for the bad three starts after taking a line drive in the ribs. Webb made no excuses, but I know that had to effect his pitching. I will also admit that I'm a huge homer when it comes to Brandon. If I were to take that out of the equation, I would probably vote for Lincecum too.

My vote goes to C.C.

It's got to be either Lincecum or Santana ... it's a pretty tough call.
