I agree, but his 22 wins, and his low ERA is definitely an indicator on the great season that Webb had. Webb would have probably won this going away if not for the bad three starts after taking a line drive in the ribs. Webb made no excuses, but I know that had to effect his pitching. I will also admit that I'm a huge homer when it comes to Brandon. If I were to take that out of the equation, I would probably vote for Lincecum too. :D

Its is hard to tell what stats the voters are going to look at but if you consider the past wins do play a considerable roll. When Dontrell Willis won the rookie of the year he was something like 14-9 with about a 3 ERA. He beat Webb who was 10-9 with a 2.8 ERA so seems like wins had something to do with it. And a few years ago Randy Johnson had the lowest ERA by quite a large margin but his record was not very good and the CY Young went to Roger Clemens who had about 20 wins.

If not for Sabbathia the Brewers would be on the outside looking in

CC will not win the CY young and here's why.

He pitched in the NL for half a season, that's right half a season. How soon people forget that Webb started 9-0 to begin the season. So the award is based over the course of an entire season not half a season. CC pitched great but the criteria is there for a reason. Just like having to have so many plate appearances to be able to win the batting title. You all are giving a double standard that shouldn't be.

But C.C.'s stats are national league stats. There is no mandated minimum for pitchers to qualify for the Cy Young

But still yet it's half a season. If Webb would have pitched in the first half and went 12-0 and didn't pitch the entire second half should he win?

Willie McGee won the NL batting title one year and finished the season with the A's.

And that's not the way it should be, and I'm pretty sure that's changed since then.

You didn't answer the question though, if Webb would have played just the first half of the season and went 12-0 does he deserve to win it?

Combined C.C. still had a 2.70 ERA. Like everyone said no C.C.= No Playoffs. Webb was very good this year but C.C. was straight up dominant.

That's not my question and to win these awards you can't go based on stats in the other league.

Fact of the matter is he pitched HALF a season in the NL. Who's to say how he would have fared in the first half of pitching a whole season in the NL. He may have went 23-2 for all we know BUT he didn't because he only pitched HALF a season. He doesn't deserve the award simply because of that. If he wins then they should just get rid of any criteria to win these season awards. Let guys who only got 1 AB this season and got a hit win the batting title batting perfect for the season.

Rick Sutcliffe didn't pitch a full season in 1984 and won the CYA.

Ok then, it's the same as when people say relievers shouldn't win Cy Young, because they don't pitch enough or whatever. Well CC didn't pitch a whole season in the NL so he hasn't pitched anymore than some relievers.

The Cy Young Award is given to the best pitcher in the Major Leagues (one for each league). Now if C.C. combined his stats I still think he is the best pitcher in the Major Leagues and deserves this award.

YOU DO NOT COMBINE STATS BEFORE YOU GIVE AN AWARD IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
