Mustang Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Beechwood 168-6 vs district opponents Dayton, Brossart, and Ludlow over the past three weeks. CovCath on the horizon. Colonels will be stinging from lopsided loss to Bluebirds. Will make for an interesting scenerio in Fort Mitchell next Friday night. Beechwood might simply be too good. We'll see.
Coachg13207 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Game is Thursday night on TV .Fox Sports network I think
Clyde Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 When there is as much of a talent discrepancy as there is between BW and the rest of NKY 1A Coach Rash's biggest challenge is motivating the troops. Its tough to get mentally motivated when you know, without question, you're going to name the score.
NEERFAN Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Here's a good question, how many consecutive wins will Beechwood run off in this district?
Charlee08 Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Cannot wait till Prestonsburg makes the trip up to Ft. Mitchell Friday after next. We are looking for revenge over a game that we let slip away last season.
CCHcolonel4Life Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 hey, it was closer than CCH v. HHS...
pnthr4life Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Here's a good question, how many consecutive wins will Beechwood run off in this district? That could be a long streak. Bellevue, Dayton and Ludlow are usually pretty evenly matched. With Brossart and Walton-Verona having their programs up and running, it will be a very competitive district. Unfortunately that competition will be for the #2 seed.
futurecoach Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Here's a good question, how many consecutive wins will Beechwood run off in this district? Im still amazed that Beechwood decided to stay in 1A when we went to 6 classes. I really thought they should have atleast tried to move up to 2A. It really is just a cake walk for them in this district. I mean it really honestly can't even be that fun for them right now in the district. Its almost a guarntee every year that they will be in the State Championship game. Well I guess I actually might have just answered my own question there for why. Congrats to Beechwood on the win, your definitely the king of this district. Its untelling how many consecutive wins Beechwood will have in the district.
NEERFAN Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I did a bit of research on KHSAA.org, and came away with this. This is how Beechwood has accomplished against district teams in the current setup since '99. They lost this game: Oct 8, 99 Bellevue away 0 - 17 (L), then proceded to win 20 in a row, then lost to Bellvue again in '05 and have one 12 straight since then. Final totals vs those teams, 1554 to 198.
Coachg13207 Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Moving could be brought up about several programs across the state .Mayfield is in the hunt every year as will LCA now.Raceland is making a name for thereselves along with Hazard. I am sure some who are smarter than I could name several other schools that could move up and compete. The Tigers did not choose who they are in district with,it just happens that way.Once out of district things get alot tougher. This is why they play the non-conference schedule they do. Getting up for every game can be hard at times I would agree.Take this game for instance.Beechwood kicked a field goal with about 4 minutes left in the first quarter for the first score of the game. The first score almost went to Ludlow on the opening kick off when BW fumbled at mid-field and it was returned for a TD .It was called back for a block in the back, but Ludlow got the ball at mid-field.

True, the district is weak but once out of the district and into the rest of the playoffs, there is NO GUARANTEE they will win those games and make it to the finals.

I agree, Beechwood is a great program and has a great history, but I would prefer they stay in 1A, I am still holding out for that first Raceland victory over them. We have had a couple close games with them, but we have never beat them. In my opinion, Beechwood is what 1A football is all about, and the measuring stick for 1A teams/programs. Like oldrambler always says, "Raceland should be sponsored by Budweiser, because we are Beechwood aged".
Hamilton Joe Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I would be willing to bet that not one Beechwood player or coach would agree w/this statement. True, the district is weak but once out of the district and into the rest of the playoffs, there is NO GUARANTEE they will win those games and make it to the finals. This district isn't weak it is just that Beechwood is miles apart from the other schools within the district. In the past 20 years Beechwood has made football and winning a huge priority. How they are able to accomplish that goal year in and year out is subject to debate and a discussion that really isn't worth spending much time on as everyone has their own opinion. Congrats to the Tigers for what they have been able to accomplish over the years and good job by the Panthers for giving it their very best.
pnthr4life Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 I agree. This district is far from weak. The other teams in the district can play with most 1A teams in the state. Beechwood is just on another level, plain and simple.
