She speaks in campaign generalities to specific questions.

That's really the long and short of it. There were a few answers that left me scratching my head because I had no idea what the hell she was talking about.

COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We-- we do-- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where-- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is-- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to-- to our state.

I just saw it on CNN and it really legitimately baffled me as to what she was talking about.

Surely she hasn't been taking diction lessons from, well, never mind.

Is this really the same person that "knocked it out of the park" at the RNC? That's one reason that I'm interested in the debates; to get a notion of how the candidates think on their feet.

You would have thought honesty would have been something positive but obviously it is not. She didn't know something about McCain.

You guys must just like the politicians who ignore the questions and answer what they want or just plainly lie to you.

At least Palin knows their arent 57 states. I agree with you LBC on everything, the media is obivously on the Obama train. As from what I've seen Obama hasnt been asked one tough question, but it is pointless to try and point that out to most people.

The more I hear of this Palin/Couric interview, the more I think that this might be her undoing. She sounds bumbling, confused and uninformed.

But she's a soccer mom. Surely those cancel each other out?

In all seriousness, it just feeds the perception that she's being for the most part sheltered because she is not up to speed. Being the mayor of a city the size of Maysville and the governor of a state with the population of Memphis may have had some bearing on that...

Did you watch the interview? That wasn't the only question asked, and Couric had to point blank her to get the concession that Palin didn't know.

COURIC: You've said, quote, "John McCain will reform the way Wall Street does business." Other than supporting stricter regulations of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac two years ago, can you give us any more example of his leading the charge for more oversight?

PALIN: I think that the example that you just cited, with his warnings two years ago about Fannie and Freddie - that, that's paramount. That's more than a heck of a lot of other senators and representatives did for us.

COURIC: But he's been in Congress for 26 years. He's been chairman of the powerful Commerce Committee. And he has almost always sided with less regulation, not more.

PALIN: He's also known as the maverick though, taking shots from his own party, and certainly taking shots from the other party. Trying to get people to understand what he's been talking about - the need to reform government.

COURIC: But can you give me any other concrete examples? Because I know you've said Barack Obama is a lot of talk and no action. Can you give me any other examples in his 26 years of John McCain truly taking a stand on this?

PALIN: I can give you examples of things that John McCain has done, that has shown his foresight, his pragmatism, and his leadership abilities. And that is what America needs today.

COURIC: I'm just going to ask you one more time - not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation.

PALIN: I'll try to find you some and I'll bring them to you.

Can we just throw them all out and start over with a new group?:irked:

But seriously, I don't know why she got picked, but if she's not ready this is the right strategy. If she does well in the debates and later on, this will be a non-issue.

If she isn't ready and made serious gaffes, there wouldn't be enough time to fix it.

You must not watch her interviews. She does exactly what your last point is.

We're about to make a decision on her and her partner and we still can't get any coherent answers out of her. It has nothing to do with honesty. She honestly doesn't seem to have a clue.

A defense like that above is laughable.

You HONESTLY think that Obama believes there are 57 states?
