I was just curious as to how many schools have a separate freshman team. I remember when I played, it was just Varsity and JV. But now I know quite a few schools keep a separate Frosh team. Here are some ones I know of:

 

Lexington Big Schools:

Tates Creek, Dunbar, Bryan Station, Henry Clay, Lafayette

 

Surrounding Area:

Woodford, Madison Central, Scott Co., GRC

 

Who else????

I think almost every school that plays football has a frosh team????

Harlan County does.

Raceland, Greenup County, Russell, Ashland, Boyd County, and I think vertually every other school in North-Eastern Kentucky has a freshman team.

Pretty sure most H.S. football teams in the state of Ky have freshmen teams.

Franklin Co. , Danville , Mercer Co. all have Freshman teams.

A lot of the smaller schools do not. There will be a JV team comprised primarily of Freshmen and Sophomores, but that is it.

Yeah guys, I came from a 1A school, so this concept of a separate freshman team is all new to me. Thanks though for the info!!! I'm doing a little research.

Well, to that point, I have heard the HC has sent Sr.s (Who don't play Varsity) down to play JV. I don't know that for a fact, but many of the schools believe that to be true.

Thats really not that uncommon. Alot of teams play their upperclassmen that don't get pt in the varisty games in jv games. It gives them a chance to play when the would not otherwise.

Boyle has a freshman team.

Pulaski Co. has a Freshman Team that is 3-0 right now.
