September 21, 200817 yr Who is Franco? Assumedly, James Franco. SNL has been horrid for YEARS. Anytime you have Horatio Sanz on a show, its going to be bad. MadTV is a much better product than SNL. SNL has been bad, and Horatio Sanz is annoying, but the bolded is pushing it.

September 22, 200817 yr I think Horatio is very funny Also agree with this statement. Horatio Sanz is one of the best guys they have going right now. And wasn't he in the famous "More Cowbell" skit?
September 22, 200817 yr It's weird, because I actually like the current cast and writers, individually and from other work (The Lonely Island, Hot Rod, etc.), but I suppose taking into account what NEERFAN said Chevy said in an interview, it makes a lot of sense.
September 22, 200817 yr SNL wasn't fantastic last year; but the two shows this season have actually been painful to watch. They've resorted to recycling old skits to fill in between the few new ones. And those new ones are simply horrific. I do enjoy watching the Wekeend Update segments though. That's usually the only part I pay much attention to.
September 22, 200817 yr I agree, unlike SNL, MadTV has never been funny. You can't be serious. The original cast was outstanding. Artie Lange, Phil Lamarr, Nicole Sullivan, Alex Bornstein, Orlando Jones..... These were funny people and it was a funny show. I enjoyed it all the way through 1999 or so.

September 23, 200817 yr Do I understand that SNL did a skit portraying the Palin's as being inbred rednecks or something of the sort? I will bet you money that you will not see them take ANY shots at Obama. I won't watch it this year for one simple reason, .. the past few seasons have gotten worse and worse and they just aren't very funny anymore. I think Jim Schue is right, ... they need new writers. I know that Al Franken is a flaming liberal, but at least he could write some good skits when he was on SNL. Since Air America and his ill fated journey into politics have both failed, he should go back to writing for SNL. It might gain some of it's humor back. They have always had some down years, but so far, it is unbearable to watch (except for the Tina Fey skit imitating Palin which was really funny).

It's a comedy show full of liberal writers...... If you want to watch something funny with conservatives in it just go watch Fox News...now they are a joke.
September 23, 200817 yr Author Do I understand that SNL did a skit portraying the Palin's as being inbred rednecks or something of the sort? I've been watching the show since it began and there has definitely been an evolving of the political humor from good-natured poking of fun (Chevy Chase/Dana Carvey/Phil Hartman) to a much nastier tone to the political imitations.

Darrell Hammond's Clinton always cracked me up.
September 24, 200817 yr Author Darrell Hammond's Clinton always cracked me up. He was definitely spot on with the Clinton impression. His Chris Matthews impression is also awesome.
