Personally, i'm extremely proud of our guys and of the way coach French has had a positive impact on their overall winning attitude so far this season. It's a pretty good feeling THIS SEASON going into games knowing we have a very good chance at a victory and that people are taking us serious again. GO REBELS. Win or lose, the rebel family KNOWS we have a team full of CHAMPIONS!!

A long time Rebel fan told me this week that this team had the BEST DEFENSE he has seen including the State Title Teams. He said they were not the best team just the Best D. If so, then that would bode well for pressure not affecting them as much. Big Pressure games seem to affect the O more than the D.

I think you might have misinterpreted my meaning when I was calling this game a barometer of "if they are back." Up to now Boyle has shown that they indeed are much better than they've been in a couple of years. However up until now they have not played one of the traditional power of their own class. Lex Cath is that.

 

If Boyle beats them or plays with them then that is the very indication needed to say, "the Rebels are back in the hunt." I've never demanded a state title as you seem to insinuate (and I don't know of too many Boyle fans that have felt that way). All most of us have wanted is for Boyle to "be in the hunt and contention." They have not been that in the last 2 years.

 

Hatz, I'm sorry you think my post was directed completely at you, I was commenting on the majority of the Rebel posts I've been reading this past season. I didn't realize THIS game was going to end everyones doubts about the rebel program this season, as there is already comments about the Knights being down this year and that the outcome wouldn't likely prove anything. Going back and reading my own post, I don't see where I said you DEMANDED anyone win a championship, I was merely looking for a light at the end of the tunnel so I could start letting my other faithful Rebel fans know that the Rebels are truly back without having to wait on the results of another Friday night. Sorry if my initial post stepped on anyones feelings, as that was not my intention. Go Rebels!

Aside from last year, (which is looking more like an anomaly every week) when was the last time a Lex Cath - Boyle game was that big of a margin? The 90's?

 

This game is almost always an instant classic and great competition. I wouldn't look for that to change this week.

 

Just looking, last big blowout before last year came in regular season '98. Lex Cath big. The four times we played Boyle Co. while I was at Lex Cath combined was only 16 pts difference.

 

Still, I see this one as close, though I'd give the edge to Boyle Co. Two good defenses, one offense (Boyle Co.'s that is a little more productive). Lex Cath will have to hope they can get some big plays and control field position if they want to win.

Wow! After reading the entire thread it makes me re think everything. But wait! Please remember one thing. The last game at Lex cath was not good for Boyle Fans, but even worse for those who played. The current Junoir and Senoir boys from Boyle still have that chip on thier shoulders. Of all the games they have lost the last 2 years could have gone one way or the other if a few plays had worked or a few stops were made. But Lex cath beat them from the first play to the last and at every position. If the stay calm, and excute I think "Rebel Pride" will pull out a close one. 21-10 14 of those points coming in the forth quater. But this is not the season maker game. It is a pride game.

The statement I was going on was: "If that is not enough to justify them being back in the thick of things then one can only wonder if ANYTHING short of a State Championship is going to convince some folks!" in your initial post.

 

Since you've only made 9 posts I think a little background to my sensitivity might be in order. Last year, when Pardue was let go, many called the Boyle fans insensitive and demanding championships. I took the offensive and pointed out that all most of us wanted was to be in contention. I think we are obviously close to that point. (if not already there) I supported Pardue's exit and applauded greatly the hiring of French. It's good to see how far and how fast they have come. I'm cautious in nature so if I seem unwilling to plan trips to Louisville right away, it's because of that nature and not in anyway a smudge on these Rebel players who have played so great and so well. :thumb:

It's not that far... you can make it there in 30 mins. on 68 from where you will be at Friday night.

I will just predict a good game played by two classy football programs!

Hatz, trust me, I know all about sensitivity when it comes to my Rebels. I've been to just about every Rebel game from here to Paducah Tillman and have witnessed first hand what our boys are capable of through the good years and the bad. Unfortunately, I work in Mercer County and have had to listen to a little gloating the past couple of years from the Titan fans.

Again, my intent wasn't to call you or anyone else out, I just think our boys have a good thing going right now and I don't want to put any added pressure on them. They truly are a great program with a ton of heart and alot of talent this year to go with it. We're all in this together. Go Rebels

Good post...alot of people forget that Boyle the past two years could have easily been 8-3 or 8-4...
