I'd like to keep both of them on the roster, and could live with Dickerson playing every day. He's had 100+ at-bats this year in the bigs and is still over .300. He's got speed and some pop, and can play any OF position. Shane Spencer's first 100 at-bats were pretty darn good, too. Then he settled into what he always was ... an extra-outfielder type. Dickerson has earned a spot on the roster next year, but not necessarily a starting position. He had never hit more than 14 homers in a season until this year ... the six he's hit in 100 at-bats so far for the Reds is an aberration.

September 17, 200817 yr The only ones I'd be willing to bet will be at the same spot next year would be Phillips and Bruce. I think some serious consideration of EE and Votto at different positions could be possible. (People talk about Dunn and Griffey's bad D...there's still a lot of room for improvement at the corners!) Keppinger and Hairston should both be back...although starting is not guaranteed. Likewise, Dickerson has proved worthy of having a role, but perhaps it's still too early to write him down for 162 games. But, I do agree that Freel and Gonzales should have played their last game in a Reds uniform. Package them together in a deal for someone who can play 150 games a year.

An outfielder with speed. Any power is an added bonus. But, I think Dickerson has the potential to hit in the upper .280's and push .300 and steal some bases. Add that to the fact that he can cover ground in the outfield and I think you'll find him in the lineup more times than not.

I do realize his D is great, just feel he doesn't give 100% at all times. I don't feel he has a good approach at the plate, you will be hard pressed to find another 2nd basemen in the national league and probably all of baseball for that matter with less walks and a lower OBP. You can give me his other numbers, but I am well aware of those. This Reds Team can lead the world every year in HR's, but come away with the same results. This Team needs some players who have a high baseball IQ, that IMHO is one of the things their lacking.

Adam Kennedy, Freddy Sanchez, Felipe Lopez and Tadahito Iguchi. Robinson Cano as well. Phillips is overrated by some Reds fans, but he's still a quality player.
