SNL has been awful for quite a long time. They get a hit every now and then, like the Palin/Hillary skit, but the show is bad as a whole. The acting would be ok with great writing, but SNL hasn't had great writing.

That is the key statement in this thread. It has nothing to do with Phelps or any of the skits. The fact is - the show is just terrible these days. :thumb:

Yeah, talk about a waste of my DVR space. The opening skit was funny. After that the best part was the closing credits.

I love Phelps, but I have yet to figure out what the marketing appeal is to him. He reminds me of George Muresan. The only thing I could think about the whole time was the scene in Rocky II when he was having difficulty reading the index cards. I bet it was a long week on the SNL set preparing for this show.

Phelps looked like a fish out of water however the first 5 min of SNL was hilarious.

Anyone see Samberg's Space Olympics digital short? It was very very strange, but somewhat entertaining.

Tina Fey was their head writer and left. The show lost its punch when Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz left too.

That is almost the same exact pose.

Sanz was forced off of the show, and Falon should return because his movie career hasn't turned out.

SNL I do not believe will ever be like it was. A group of great actors such as Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Will Ferrell, David Spade and others. It is just hard to live up to those satndards they set for the show.

Sanz was forced off of the show, and Falon should return because his movie career hasn't turned out.

Why was Sanz forced off?

Those were good, but not the foundation that made SNL great. They were following in the footsteps of...

Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Garrett Morris, Gilda Radner, Al Franken, Bill Murray, Laurie Metcalf, Eddie Murray, Joe Piscopo, Billy Crystal, Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller, Jan Hooks, Victoria Jackson, Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Kevin Nealon, Mike Myers, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and others.

And still, the WRITING was the component that made the show great and the biggest void in the current product, IMO.

Falon is the new Conan O'Brien. I doubt he'll come back.

Why was Sanz forced off?

Drug addiction.:creepy:

That's right, forgot about that, Conan is the new Jay, right?

Drug addiction.:creepy:

Oh ok, I didn't know that.
