September 15, 200818 yr Author USC will run the table, I hope a SEC team is the N Champ but USC is unreal I think that Oklahoma "might" have chance to get them if the two are in the NC.
September 15, 200818 yr To me they could have won this game with a healthy Beanie and Pryor at QB. Are you serious? Yeah maybe they might have scored more than 3 and would have score 10 or 13 instead. However you then also would have to stop USC offense. Which that once again overrated defense was not going to do. I just really hope this stops any talk of OSU defense being great this year. Anytime the last three years they played a team with a good offense and speed, they have not done well. They are a good defense, but definitely not great.

The TD being called back killed the momentum. I know you can say one player can't change a game, but Beanie can establish the running game which would have opened up the passing game. To me Pryor is the better QB of the two, and IMO he should have been in for the majority if not the entire game. I understand he is a true freshman and Boeckman had a good year last season but when you have a guy who was 14-21, was sacked 4 times and had 2 INT with zero TD's, then you have a guy who was 7-9, was sacked one time, and had zero INT's and had 40 yards rushing on 11 carries, to me you play that second guy. I hate to make excuses for any team, but to me that changes this game. Maybe not a win, but a lot closer.

But it appeared to me the only reason there was a TD in the first place was the holding by the guard for OSU. He tacked the DLineman as he had a perfect bead on the QB for a sack. That hold gave him time to find his Receiver. "If if's and but's were Candy and Nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas."

One could just see the air go out after that. USC won, deserved to win, no excuses............end of story. My only hope is that someone knocks them off, not bc they beat the Buckeyes but bc I cannot stand USC (I never could) or their coach.
September 16, 200818 yr There have been a couple "Fight On" comments in this thread. Just have to ask, when did you guys start routing for The University of Southern California and why? Not being mean. Seriously and just curious on why?

Not being mean. Seriously and just curious on why? I've liked them since Marcus Allen, grew up in So.Cal. 5wide has liked them since the mid-80's with Rodney Peete. Don't know about Slink but he's had that avatar for at least three years.

However I love Pete Carroll, he is a coach I would have loved to play for, I think anybody would. He is just a great coach.

Then OSU would have probably got to 10 or 13 points instead. However you didn't answer how they would still stop USC from scoring though? That defense for OSU is not good enough to stop USC. Honestly the score very well could have been a lot worst than it really was.
September 16, 200818 yr College football goes in cycles. I remeber not long ago, back in the 90's before Carroll came to USC, they were an average at best program. They had really gone downhill. Pete has really done a fine job and turned them around. OSU for years when Cooper was there didn't even beat Michigan, but Tressel is turning the program around and brought a National Championship back to Ohio State in 2002. It all comes down to recruting and I think that Tressel sees the importance of speed, as well as size, and that is why he went so hard after Pryor at the QB position. The game of football is changing and OSU will have to change with it to be successful. The days of primarily running the football at a major D-1 program is long gone. I believe that OSU is now beginning to recruiting the right players to make this transition. Awful lot of venom against OSU on here, the fact of the matter is OSU will always be a team that will have to be dealt with. Obviously they didn't win this game, but they will be back. By the end of the season they will be back in the Top 10, and play for a major bowl. People may not like OSU but theu are not going away! Go Bucks!
September 16, 200817 yr Awful lot of venom against OSU on here Only because they keep getting embarrassed, and the tOSU fans always have excuses. At this point, they have to prove they can win a big OOC game again.
September 18, 200817 yr Only because they keep getting embarrassed, and the tOSU fans always have excuses. At this point, they have to prove they can win a big OOC game again. Ohio State doesn't have to prove anything to anyone! They have 7 National Championships, Great Tradition, Total Class Act for a coach, and they are consistantly in the top 10 year end and year out! Like it or not Ohio State will be back and battle for another championship!

September 18, 200817 yr Ohio State doesn't have to prove anything to anyone! Wrong. The fact is the HAVE been proving they don't belong in the top group of teams. Combined score of their last 3 games against BCS schools? 114-41
