  1. Calls a game with consistency and makes calls that have a direct effect on the play. For example, if a hold occurs on the right TE, and the running back went off his tail and this hold sprung the play then it has to be called! However, if the play goes around the right side, and the left TE holds, then you don't throw the flag you do preventative officiating and talk to that TE letting him know that you saw him holding and to correct it!
  2. Poor behavior from the fans directed at players and coaches isn't half as bad as some of things that are said and happens to officials on Friday nights. It is amazing the things that officials take on Friday night, and to top it off the fans think they know the rules but confuse them so often between high school, college, and the NFL. For example I don't know how many times I have heard that the QB's out of the pocket that's not intentional grounding! And that's true for College, and the NFL but on Friday nights there is no pocket. Just one of many examples. Just an observation from an officials point of view. It comes with the territory when you put on the stripes.
  3. This game is going to be on TV / Internet through Wazoosports.com
  4. Julian would be a GREAT selection for Commissiooner! He knows his stuff, is familair with every sport (currently takes care of football, basketball, and baseball), and actually was a finalist for the job when DeVries was selected a few years ago! Looking forward to Julian being the man in charge!
  5. The funny thing is everyone knows what Ironton is going to do, but they cannot stop it. They will run out of a full house backfiled, or I formation, 3 yards and a cloud of dust as the great Woody Hayes used to say! Only pass the ball a hand full of times. Coach Lutz has run this offense effectively for over 30 years. Look for alot of rushing yards to rack up on Ironton's side of the ball in this one. Ironton 35 Ashland 14
  6. No the officials are assigned by an assigning secretary in Kentucky. Quote: Originally Posted by Big Slick I agree, whichever side of the bridge you play on is worth about 10 points. But Ashland has no control over the refs they get. Its an excuse we all love to use. It's always easy to blame the refs. The team that lost will always use it. On the other hand. I don't know for sure but don't the Ohio school systems get to say who is going to ref the games. I may be wrong. Just what I've been told over the years. If so maybe by playing the game in Ashland. Ironton will lose 10 points
  7. The #1 Raceland vs. #2 LCA 1A game will be a dandy as well. Raceland won first game 37-35!
  8. Great post Old Rambler!:thumb:
  9. Whats this all about? This crew is one of the top varsity crews in the region, with 3 of the officials having worked the KHSAA State Championships in Louisville! Do not understand your comment at all!
  10. Sideline doc is 100% correct
  11. Yes, you will be able to see the football field and lights as the field is on your right no more than 100yards off the highway. You can't miss it.
  12. Stay on 23 north straight into Racleand. Once you get into downtown Ashland you are only about 15 minutes away.
