BUT....WV built their program by starting with Jr. High, then Freshmen the next season, JV the next, and now Varsity.

 

BB started with Varsity last season.

 

It shows the way to start a program is slowly through the feeders.....

How was the Bearcat crowd ? Big?

 

Very small, especially given what I'd heard about their following, and the rather easy drive to Newport Stadium from Walton. Looked to me like one of those "Friends and Family" type crowds, and I don't recall a student section? The Bearcats deserve a better following IMO.

Well said!! The Bearcats definately the better team today, and the Mustangs showed they've got a ways to go in their development towards competitiveness. I don't think this will be Walton's last dent on the win column this year, as they executed the game plan very well, mixed it up on offense superbly; and played solid defense. Mustangs did little to help themselves today with tons of penalities and missed assignments; but did play hard to the end. Best of luck to both the remainder of the season!!

Hard to argue this statement, as it was easy to see the team that had played together before, and showed good basic "football" skills!! Give this Brossart staff some time and I think you'll see similar results--Remember, they've only been in place for about 8 weeks or so.

Good job Walton - I honestly believe that this program will be very competitive in the future.

Bearcats had to compete with old fashion day in Walton. People are also learning about being high school football fans. Tradition is just being established and will continue to grow.:banana:
