I had just woke up right after te 2nd plane hit because I had worked until 2am that morning. I was getting cereal n my dorm ready for my afternoon class. Surreal. I went to English class and the lady at UofL was about 90 years old said no one had an excuse to miss the class, regardless of what was going on. She didn't even let us out 1 minute early. I remember all of the planning and organizing and events held at my old high school during the football season in remembrance of that day. Rockcastle County had several veterans walk out at halftime and honor them and other activities throughout the year, that made you never to forget.

I've watched a little bit of that--it is really eerie to relive it in real time.

Wow thats nuts. I wish I could watch, but I'm at work

Saw that while I was getting ready for work and it freaked me out. I was getting ready around 8:30-9:00. I didn't realize it was old coverage at first, I thought it was another building not the WTC. Only took me a minute watching to realize, but yea.

I know we have another thread about this, but I was just reading a timeline of the events and I just got to the part about Beamer talking to the dispatcher. And recorded on the phone was him saying "Let's Roll!"

Wow, sent chills up my spine...

I remember the day like it was yesterday. It's very hard to forget. I frequent a Giants message board and they posted the archived thread from that day and it was unreal to read it. It was an extremely sad day for our country.

I also found a site online that consists of journal entries about a man who was killed on 9/11. His wife and kids have written entries on the site. It is very difficult to read all of them. Very sad.

I was in my senior year of high school, and didn't hear about it until the middle of my first period class. It was about 30 minutes after the second plane crashed that someone mentioned it and we stopped watching the movie we were watching to turn on CNN. Towards the end of that first class the South Tower fell.

Prior to the beginning of our second period class the principals instructed the teachers that they were to turn off their TV sets and teach as normal. I still think that was the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You always hear about how kids don't care about history, and yet here it was in front of us unfolding live, an event that would change the nation and they were telling us to bury our heads in the sand and pretend like nothing was happening. My teacher ignored this and we watched news coverage throughout the class.

I think it didn't really hit me for a while just how significant it was. I remember not comprehending that there might still be people in the South Tower, since it was hit later on. After the towers fell, it started to hit home just how serious this was, and then you started to hear about the death toll. I just remember how crazy everything was, when you heard about the plane crashing into the Pentagon and the one that crashed in Pennsylvania. But I think the most lasting image to me was later that night or one of the next couple of nights, Congress gathered on the steps of the Capitol and sang "God Bless America". I still tear up a little when I think about it because even though they couldn't carry a note, there was something about seeing these politicians that usually would step on someone if they thought they could get ahead, and yet here they were, presenting a united front, putting aside their differences because our nation had suffered a tragic blow, and while they were Republican, Democratic, or Independent, they were all Americans.

I was teaching a 6th grade science class when another teacher called me to tell me about it. I turned the TV and it was when the second plane was hitting the tower. We watched it the rest of the day. It was silent the entire day and if you have ever been a MS that is something. I remember going home and watching the entire night.

I understand what you're saying, but Trimble County probably holds onto those good old fashioned values better than alot of other schools. I'm pretty sure our principal led a prayer over the PA when JFK was shot.

We participated in a national moment of silence today at 8:46.

I was at work. Someone came back and told me about a plane crashing into one of the WTC towers. I remember thinking, what a tragedy. It seemed like forever, and she came back and told us that another plane had crashed into the other tower and they believed it was a terrorist attack. I just stood there, stunned. Then we were told that one of the towers had collapsed. We closed the business for that day and sent every employee home (around 500 people). My wife went and picked up the kids from school. That night, my family and I just watched in stunned disbelief at the videos being shown. The panic, the horror, the pain, the tears, the utter destruction. One of my kids looked at me and said, "Daddy, why would someone do that?" I replied "I don't know." For about a year, I was still in shock that anyone could hate so much that they would intentionally destroy so many lives. Now here it is, 7 years later, and I still don't understand it. I know that some around the world hate the USA and all we stand for, but that still doesn't explain why.

I was driving into work and I normally had sports talk on but for some reason had a Pearl Jam CD playing. I walked into the office and everyone was crowded around a cubicle watching a lady's portable TV. We watched the 2nd plane hit and then a few of us walked over to Champs inside the Hilton downtown to watch the news on the big screen. We just sat there in awe as the buildings tumbled.

I remember saying to myself, nobody is going to want to talk business today so I called all of my good buddies and we scheduled a round of golf.

It was a beautiful day in September and we all just played 9 holes and talked about good times and how lucky we were to be alive and living in the USA.

It was a very somber time. My cousin was living in NY at the time and he was on a train heading into Union Station. They rerouted it and he had to get off and walk 18 blocks to the Brooklyn Bridge and head back to his apt. He said it was surreal and the chaos was baffling. Seeing everyone just walking and walking for hours was amazing he said.
