Football Moms

Featured Replies

I was talking to some friends about football moms the other day and thought, exactly what is a football mom? I decided to try and answer that. (I am very sorry if it hits too close to home for some.)

Is she a football mom or a FOOTBALL MOM?

football moms go to games, but as for FOOTBALL MOMS:

She claims every kid on the team as one of ours.

She knows how they practice, she knows how they play.

She knows the teams we play.

She worries about the ones that are hurt.

She worries about the ones that don't get to play much.

She knows how to get to every stadium between here and Highlands.

She can run a concession stand, she can order cleats.

She can deal with an angry coach, parents, booster, administrators and drunks (sometimes one and the same).

She will tell an unruly fan, ours or theirs, off in a heartbeat.

She is sometimes the unruly fan.(And can be one of the loudest humans on the planet.)

She lives and dies by how well they do or don't do.

She never misses a home game and very few away. (Our boy graduated years ago and we're still knee deep in it.)

She understands the games and questions calls, officials and coaches decisions.

She can explain what is going on on the field to a 10 year old and be right.

She can make fun of our own but will dare you to do it.

She is at the heart of some of the best football fan stories anywhere.

She always has a band aid.

Angry FOOTBALL MOMS are to be avoided at all costs.

We're all fans, but FOOTBALL MOMS are what can make High School football great! Keep it up, ladies.:thumb:

My wife is a FOOTBALL MOM of the first order. (She is also still mad over Favre being a Jet and still will almost cry over our loss to Beechwood in the Semis in '03.).)

I have a FOOTBALL SISTER at my house, also. She can tell you about a 4-3 defense or explain eligible receivers to the same 10 year old afore mentioned.

What else will make a FOOTBALL MOM?

Thank you, oldrambler. This started off as a pm to Ramblin Man and turned into a thread.

Great description of FOOTBALL MOMS, I try to stay out of their way.

To add a few:

After late practices they will stay up til the wee hours of the morning to wash the practice clothes so they are fresh and smell good for the next day of practice.

They plan and organize other football parents to prepare pregame meals before every game.

They plan and organize other football moms to participate in decorating the boys homes every week the night before the games.

They will drop everything in an instant to take that forgotten mouthpiece, or glove or what ever your player may need at any time of the day. And usually take a Gatorade with them for alittle extra.

Football Moms are great - they are always supportive.

ABSOLUTELY GREAT - As a football mom - I have to change some of that but I can tell you - there is nothing better than being called "Mom" to another 63 boys.:jump::banana:

Ya' know the difference between a pit bull and a football mom?....lipstick! (with apologies to Sarah Palin!)

....easy gals, it was just a joke!

Or "sister". I love having 75 little brothers that just pick pick pick you to death! But being a "mom" is different. I so agree with all the statements that have been posted. "MOMS" should be applauded! They are a part of what makes High School football GREAT! ;)

I did forget one:

She is the one that stays with that one kid that almost never has someone picking them up until an hour after the game is over to make sure they are actually picked up.
