September 8, 200818 yr What are restaurants that I have to try up here? I have been to a lot, but it seems like every day or so I hear of something new. Some of my favorites from before I lived here are: Equus - The Sea Bass is awesome and depending on mood this is my favorite restaurant in Louisville. Pat's Steakhouse - Probably the best steak in town. Jack Fry's - Simply the best, if I could afford it I'd visit at least once a week. My Havana Rumba - I LOVE this place, could eat there everyday, especially the Cubano. Bristol - Their wine list is awesome. Food is great too. Wagner's Pharmacy - I go to the track a lot and this place is awesome...super cheap too. Lynn's Paradise Cafe - Great breakfast, drinks are pricey though and it's too crowded. Mike Linnings - It's way out there, but the set up and food are both great. Here are some I've discovered since I moved up here. Kashmir - Cheap and good. I DO go here about once a week. Shiraz - The Mahi Kebab is awesome. Come Back Inn - Perhaps my favorite place I've found that I didn't know about before. El Mundo - Great fish taco. Palermo Viejo - Get the steak, probably the best value on a steak in town. And don't worry, it doesn't compromise on taste at all. Irish Rover - MUCH better than Molly Malone's, O'Shea's, or Flannigan's for Irish food. Avalon - Get the Lobster Truffle Mac and Cheese...you won't regret it. So let's hear some thoughts from BGP land.
September 8, 200818 yr My favorite is Jack Fry's, on the whole. Of course, I also really like the Rover, and the bar at Pat's. Napa River Grille has the best wine list in town, IMVHO. Mrs. Hearsay and I ate a place down on Main (or was it Market?) earlier this year called The Mayan Gypsy and thought it was outstanding. I don't know whether they are still open or not. The best patio lunch is still at the Azalea. We try and eat out formally once a month for a date night, and have rarely been disappointed by Louisville's fine dining scene.
September 8, 200818 yr strictly from a bang for your buck perspective I don't think El Mundo can be beaten. fantastic food & very reasonably priced. Also, in that same vein, try Varanese, right down the street. A little more expensive than El Mundo but a terrific value nonetheless...:thumb:

Azalea's closed last year. Pizza-Impellizzari's Ramsi's-get the Shrimp Po Girl...you won't be sorry

September 9, 200818 yr I am not an Impellizari's fan really. They have changed their product mix a bunch in the last 7-8 months or so...no pizzas alike, and that's not good.... Here are some of my favorites: Corner Cafe, Macca's, Napa River Grill, The Fishery, El Mundo, Sari Sari, Furlong's (it's coming back), Asahi Japanese Restaurant, Club Grotto, Uptown Cafe, Cafe Metro, Morton's, Rivue, Jeff Ruby's, Melillo's

I haven't noticed any changes. We've ordered tons of pizza's, several of the pasta dishes and a few salads thrown in to ease our consciences. The only downside to Impellizari's is the wait to get your pizza, but with good friends the time flies, and the food is always worth the wait.
September 9, 200818 yr Ramsi's fish is excellent as well. I've actually never had anything at Ramsi's that I didn't like. The aps are awesome, and with so many choices and differnt ethnicities represented, you can go a long time before repeating yourself in the menu....unless you're me. I'm hooked on the Shrimp Po Girl. HOOKED, I say!
