If I remember correctly, the last time the Tomcats varsity won the state title was 1990. It was also the last time the Tomcats beat Ironton. Not to over look this game, but next week Ashland has Russell, who has a very good rushing team.

I'm pullin for Ashland in this one.

Ashland - 21

Ironton - 14

Good Luck Cats!

How talented is this years Ironton team ?

The last time I saw them play was when they beat the Tomcats at Putnam a few years ago in a really close game. To be honest, that was the worst Ironton team I had ever seen. They just weren't that good compared to the teams Ironton usually puts on the field.

I hope the Tomcats win. Should have made my point more clear. I meant to state that both Ironton, and Russell were both rushing teams. Also the cats are due.

First, let me state I am not cheering for either team. I am commenting on a team and information that I know. Ironton returns many players from last year's disappointing 5-5 team. They started 0-5 but won the last 5. They are currently 2-1, meaning 7-1 in the last eight games with essentially all the main cogs from last year's team. Put the information together with the game being played at Ironton......I give the advantage to Ironton.

I would love to see Ashland win this, but at Tanks Memorial, I don't think it's gonna happen. If it were in Ashland... maybe, not likely though.

I would have tried to give a score, but I don't even try when it's at Ironton.

Almost everyone expects Ashland to lose this game, which really puts the Tomcats in a good position. If they lose; it was expected. But if they win it is a huge upset.

The Tomcats just need to play hard nosed, physical football the entire game and let the chips fall where they will. :fight:

My heart says that Ashland will get the upset this year.

I hope Ashland shocks the world.

I do too. I just wish it was being played somewhere else... anywhere else.

From what I hear, this is Ironton's best team in a few years. I dont see Ashland matching up very well if that is true. Add to the fact that coach Lutz is 3 times the coach that Hart is, and it spells disaster for the Tomcats.

Ironton 35

Ashland 7

I just don't see it being much of a contest. Ironton is better than Ashland at every single position. They are bigger, stronger, faster, and they have Lutz vs Hart.

Ive seen crazier upsets happen, but I don't think the Tcats have it this year, althought I would love for them to pull it off.

(If our world gets sucked through a blackhole into some alternate dimension then Ashland may win.)

O.k. This is Ashland and Ironton game we are talking about. Tomcats will take Russell behind the wood shed in due time. I my self will pick Ashland folks in a close one. Good luck Tomcats we at Ram land are pulling for a victory. :thumb: P.S Russell had better worry about the Game this week. Had a hard time with Boyd Co. I might add.

LOL I'm glad the Raceland fans and parents make it so easy for the Russell team to get fired up for the Raceland game. If it wasn't for the trash talking 364 days a year, Raceland might luck out into Russell coming in unmotivated.

We'll get back to Ashland/Ironton or this one will be padlocked and some of you will be on the outside looking in!

Thank you...thank you....and thank you again! Some fans are well.....nm.

As for the game and the long history between Ashland and Ironton, I was thinking about how unlikely it would have been for East Carolina to think they would upset Va Tech and WVU at the beginning of their season. My point is, we all know upsets do happen. As Greybeard pointed out, the Cats need to play hard nosed football and let the chips fall where they will.

Ashland simply needs to play their very best on each snap, and above all, never, never ever give up. Win, lose or draw…I would want Ironton to know they had been in a battle when the final horn sounds.
