The Big Ten

Disagree. IMO, it's the 3rd best of the big conferences. The SEC, and Big 12 are 1 and 2. It's better than the Big East and the ACC.

Right now, absolutely agree.

Pac 10 is better.

Pac 10 is better.
It's close. The top 3 in the P10 are better, but the bottom 7 are awful.

UCLA is maybe the 5th of 6th best team in the Pac-10, and they played an awful first half and still beat Tennessee. You've got USC, Oregon, Arizona, and Arizona St. who are all tough, and Cal is no slouch.

Far more depth than the Big-12. Oklahoma is excellent, Missouri, Texas Tech, Texas and Kansas are good, but there is a huge dropoff after that.

The SEC and Pac-10 have been 1-2 for several years now. 2008 is no different. Most people don't respect the Pac-10 because 1) they have a west coast bias, 2) they don't see them play, 3) they hate USC, 4) the buy into the myth that the Pac-10 is a "soft" conference.

I agree...SEC, PAC 10, and Big XII are the three best conference imo in that order.

Kind of come to expect all the Big Ten bashing around here with all the SEC fans and that is OK. I just find it funny that when a Vanderbilt beats a South Carolina the thought is wow Vandy must be good and not the fact that both are bad. However if a Northwestern would beat a top tier team in the Big Ten then the conference is just terrible. Auburn who is a top tier team this year in the SEC barely beats a Conference USA team, Arkansas struggles against a Louisiana Monroe team, Tenn loses to a below than average PAC 10 team, Alabama barely wins their game this week.

Not saying the SEC is a bad conference it is propably the best conference just not by as much as everyone thinks. I would take the 4 best in the Big ten this year (OSU, Penn St, Wisc, and propably Ill.) and they are on the level of the top 4 in the SEC, PAC 10 and Big 12. The rest of the Big ten this year is mediocre like the middle and bottom of the other leagues.

Alabama will be a middle of the road team in the SEC this year, and dominated the preseason favorite in the ACC. The SEC is the best college football conference top to bottom. Simple as that. No argument against it. There's a reason the last two champions came from the SEC. Every week there will be competition, you can't say that about other conferences.

Not to be critical but come on. OSU would be lucky to finish 3rd in SEC. WIsconsin would be lucky to finish 5th. It's not close they are bad.

Must be an OSU fan.

As far from it as one can be.

Thats why Wisconsin has beaten the SEC in 2 of the last three bowl games and should of won last year. Most underrated program in America is Wisconsin. And yes OSU could compete for the SEC championship as well as Penn St. and Wisconsin. Not saying they would win it but would have a chance depending upon where games were played etc. College football has too much parity now to think one conference is so much better than the other.
