I have never seen a receiver throw the ball to himself or a quarterback able to throw to a receiver without an offensive line blocking. It takes a team to execute. This is not meant to take away from any receiver, I just don't think that anyone can single handedly win a game or dominate. TEAMs win.

5 yard dumps turning into 75 yard TD's, and 20 yard passes where he literally over or through people.

One of the best high school football games I have watched in a long time. That said I am surprised no one has brought up the fatigue factor. NCC is a 2a school and each of their starting receivers also plays DB and safety. Of course, they have lineman going both ways.

You could see the legs going late in the first half when CCH scored their first TD. It was very obvious late in the game. This is a game NCC should have won. A good 5A or 6A school should beat a good 2A school given the greater depth of the larger school.

This will not be as big a factor for NCC once they move into district play and the playoffs. Good luck to both teams the rest of the season.

Yes NCC is a 2A school, but CovCath is/was a 4A school and only moved up to 5A in as much as no other school in NKy (Boone, Campbell or Kenton counties) play in the 4A Division. I highly doubt if any NCC Player or Coach will ever say that CovCath should always beat NCC because of it's size advantage, as no matter the record when these two play against each other it usually bring out the best in both!

I only saw highlights on the news but Kues looked awesome on those 1st half TD runs. He is fast and seems to see the field very well.

I really wish I could have watched this game as I would say this might be one of the best NKY high school football games for a long time.

Both teams have a lot of talent. I cant wait to see the Colonels come into Ft. Thomas in a few weeks.

I think you made his point for him, guy...

There are 512 male students at CCH and ~235 at NCC. That's a HUGE (more than 2-1) difference in talent pools.

Fatigue is always a big factor which favors the larger school, especially late in a game.

I know excatly what I posted! :thumb:

CovCath is a bigger school no doubt about it, but they are not a 5A or a 6A school and that is what the poster said

CovCath is a 4A school playing up to the 5A level.

Truly, never in all my years of watching CovCath play NewCath have I ever heard a NewCath fan say, CovCath should beat NewCath because they are bigger.

I wanted to add a little more about some of the kids who stood out to me. #14 from CCH looks like a great athlete and I think is only a sophomore. He was on the kickoff team and WOW he had a great hit on someone when breaking up the wedge. I could hear the impact from where I was standing. Just looking at the kid, he seems to have the body to be able to put on more weight the next few years. Does anyone else know more about who this is and what he's all about. Please post if you do. Thanks

His name is Troy Timmerman. He's about 6''1 or 6''2 and I'd say somewhere close to 190 or 195. He's a big kid and runs fairly fast. He has a ton of potential to be a star in Northern Kentucky.

Kids like him are what make CovCath special some years- not just because he is a great athlete, but also because Boone County has no Catholic High School that plays football!

One of the biggest factors in this game was the fact that CovCath was in better shape than NewCath. I know a lot of the Breds played both ways but VanSant, Frisch, and Connaughton played both ways as well and continued to make plays when they were tired.

Overall this was a great game for both teams. CovCath finally played at the level they are capable and NewCath learned what they can do well and need to improve on. In my perfect world both teams would finish 14 and 1.

He weighs more in the 215 area, He is an outstanding athlete. He plays Friday nights at linebacker, and Saturday mornings at QB with the JV team. And this morning he scored on about a 7 yard QB sneak in overtime to give the JV Colonels the win.

Let's narrow that down to the last 2 minutes of the first half and most of the 2nd half. Every Colonel fan was thinking the same thing I was about halfway through the 2nd quarter. Uh oh

And the recent series history bears that out. I think CovCath has won 12 of the last 13?

Let's see, first game lose 57-0, down 20-6 in second game. Come back and win. What's their motto "With a spirit that will not die?" Yeah, I'd say that covers it. Congrats Colonels.
