Let's see, first game lose 57-0, down 20-6 in second game. Come back and win. What's their motto "With a spirit that will not die?" Yeah, I'd say that covers it. Congrats Colonels.

While sitting at the HHS/Colerain game, a guy was giving updates and when I heard that Cov Cath was down by so many, I thought that the people of Park Hills will be calling for Brossart's head. Then the next update was "Oh My GOD! Cov Cath came back and is winning with seconds left!" When I heard that, I knew that the Colonels still have some fight in them. As for the Breds, you'll just have to do what we are doing this week, regroup after a tough loss, and move on to next week. Good luck to both teams.

WOW!!! What a game congrats to CovCath. Any thoughts on the following:

1. CovCath should play and COACH like they ae 20 pts down at all times. They opened up the offense and as TOG said they unleashed the beast. THROW THE BALL WHICH WILL SET UP THE RUN--unconventional but effective!

2. QB running to the sideline has a negative impact on the flow of the offense. No huddle and hurry up offense were impressive. Didn't the Colonels win a State Title with the no-huddle? Additionally, think the quicker pace keeps the calling playing more dynamic with the play callers have less time to over think things.

3. Great defensive change going to base 40. Tackling is a big issue that has come through in scrimmages and first two games. However, once the players get comfortable with their new assignments and stop over pursuing should see positive results.

4. Deglow as a returner great move!

5. Offensive line does a very good job pass blocking. They need to get more forward movement for the run. Deters has to earn his yard between the tackles.

6. BIGGEST OBSERVATION: COVCATH PLAYERS BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES!

Just my thoughts after watching two scrimmages and a game and listening to the other game.

Go Colonels beat the Colonels

I'd love to give a big shout out to all of the offensive lineman from Cov. Cath. Everyone is praising Isler and he did do a great job. But he was also only touched 2 times in the game and one of them was a sack. The O'line Protected well and made some good seems for Deter's to run.

I read this a few years ago and it brought tears to my eyes. I can relate to the author....the only chance I ever have of hearing my son's name is on a fumble recovery! LOL

Ode to the Offensive Lineman

(Debbie Christiansen)

School begins, football starts and fall is in the air.

The papers cover local teams to tell us how they'll fare.

Quarterbacks and halfbacks, a running back or two;

safety, ends and kickers, throw in some linemen too.

Every mother smiles to see her young son's name in print.

"He's bound to be a starter!" In Dad's eye there is a glint.

So the first game comes along -- my son, he's on the line.

"Dive right," "cut block," "quarterback sneak,"he's in there every time.

We have the plays, players too, everybody reasons.

This is the year, there's no doubt, we'll have a winning season.

The paper lauds the quarterback, his passes are supreme.

The wide receiver, there's a guy -- the fastest that we've seen.

Did you see the many yards gained by the running back?

And no one ever will forget the defense on the sack.

The linemen on the defense are listed one by one.

Numbering every tackle in the game they won.

And so on down the list of plays and scores until they're done.

But -- wait a minute! His name's not there -- I cannot find my son!

"Did you do your part?" I ask. "Tell me son, did you play well?"

"I am an offensive linemen -- there is no more to tell."

And so to offensive linemen -- this ode to you I write.

Who take your place upon the line and block with all your might?

Who give the quarterback the time to throw the perfect pass,

and make the hole for the running back to leave 'em in the grass?

You give the kicker what he needs the extra point to score.

You block and fall and push and shove, and come right back for more.

They do not keep the stats on you, your name's not up in lights.

Without you, well - the quarterback is just a guy in tights!

"I am an offensive lineman -- there's no more to my story."

To offensive linemen everywhere, honor, laud and glory!

Agree, o-Line did a great job protecting the QB:ylsuper:

bredsmom, that is great, I have never seen that before, but I will use it frequently. Thanks for posting it.

Sounds like a great game. I would guess that CovCath's preseason #2 in NKY was validated. NCC was being hailed as the solid #2 behind Highlands prior to the loss. NC is a very good team. Now, I would think that we are looking at 1)Highlands 2)CovCath 3)New Cath and then a lot of teams very close. The fact is that we have a lot of work in KY to catch up with the Ohio teams. CovCath was destroyed by a 4A Ohio school and they are one of KY's top five 5A teams. Pat VS is perhaps the best all-around player in NKY this year. He is college material.

I am very sorry I missed this one. I bet it was very exciting at the end. I am also glad to see that CCH rebounded. It would have been bad if they didn't win any going into playing HHS. We don't need that kind of pressure. Good luck Colonels and Breds this year.

No problem.......I found it when my son was 11 years old. I pass it along to several people every year. We can't forget our big guys on the line!
