August 30, 200818 yr You do know that the grape vine runs wild in Politics! ! ! So maybe others were talking and discussing with her, seems a good pick, considering she has more on her plate than Obama.

August 30, 200818 yr I personally think it was a great pick. This woman walks the walk as far as pro-life issues go . . . she has 5 kids and one has Down Syndrome . . .she knew it before giving birth and chose to keep the baby. Not only that but she is for drilling for more oil in Alaska, and for keeping marriage between a man and a woman. Because she is a woman she may also be able to bring in the ladies vote for those who were disappointed in Hillary not getting the nod from the Dems. For the very first time in this election I may be getting a little excited!

The fact that McCain only met with Palin once in person is a reflection of geography more than anything else. Palin's selection has the nation's electorate very curious, which will force the mainstream media to give her the kind of coverage normally reserved for The One. If Palin lives up to the hype, then Obama will be in deep trouble.

This is what he's banking on.

I would add that she is a female that agreed with him on many of the important issues to the social conservatives. Any female would not have done. It had to be the right female. She seems to be that right female.
August 30, 200818 yr I am anti-abortion, not pro-life. Pro-Life to me is worthless any more. Roe V Wade is not going to be overturned. Plain and simple.

August 30, 200818 yr But is it really possible to glean all the information from one meeting to decide this woman has what it takes to be #2?None of us know how many hours McCain spent talking to Palin on the phone and Palin was thorughly vetted by McCain's staff. So, I would say that the answer to your question is no, but your question reflects a presumption that the single meeting was the entire basis of McCain's decision.
August 30, 200818 yr Palin won't bring the Clinton supporters like many people think. Not that it's a majority, or anything of the like, but most female Clinton supporters I know don't follow her sentiments. Most female Clinton supporters didn't just support her because she was a woman, but because of her experience, knowledge, and views - which are all totally different from Palin. Palin has been a governor for 18 months, has differing opinions on nearly every aspect, and isn't known outside of Republican Politics. And besides, she's not even half the speaker that Clinton is, and not even in the same hemisphere as Obama. Palin doesn't excite me at all.

Have you watched Obama stammer through answers to simple, direct questions such as, "When do human beings obtain human rights?" Obama is a great teleprompter reader but their is a reason that he refused to meet John McCain in a series of town hall debates after McCain called his bluff. There is more to public speaking and campaigning than reading speeches. As to whether Palin is a better speaker than Hillary Clinton, the jury is still out on that question. Hillary improved by leaps and bounds as a speaker during the campaign and handed Obama his head on a platter in their last debate. I am sure that McCain must believe that Palin handles herself well under pressure and I am looking forward to seeing how she responds under pressure compared to Obama. Hopefully, we will be seeing her getting grilled by the media very soon.
