August 29, 200818 yr This from an press release about Palin...."Palin is married to Todd Palin, a lifelong Alaskan who is a production operator on the North Slope." This is how wikipedia defines the North Slope.... "The Alaska North Slope is the region of the U.S. state of Alaska located on the northern slope of the Brooks Range along the coast of two marginal seas of the Arctic Ocean, the Chukchi Sea being on the western side of Point Barrow, and the Beaufort Sea on the eastern. The region contains the National Petroleum Reserve–Alaska, with the bulk of Alaska's known petroleum until the Prudhoe Bay oil field was discovered in 1968, as well as the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which itself has been the subject of controversy surrounding the possibility of petroleum drilling within its boundaries. The petroleum extracted from the region is transferred south by means of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System to Valdez on the Pacific Ocean. Nothing about fishing here......am I missing something?
August 29, 200818 yr I agree this is a great pick... Poor Hilary another woman takes her spot..... again... haha
August 29, 200818 yr You (collectively) can't have it both ways. You can't promote the strengths of one VP and denigrade the other on one hand and then say the VP doesn't really matter. Not sure how that fits into the experience argument between the main candidate of one party vs the second position of the other. VP to VP you're right. Neither one is going to hurt or help much.
August 29, 200818 yr The jibes about being the mayor of a 9,000 person town are going to come back on Obama. This country is made up of 9,000 person towns, and the more Obama denigrates it the more he will alienate all of those voters with his supreme arrogance. You can't tell small town America you're better than they are and get away with it. Its no "jibe." I've got a mayor and my town is about 10,000. If someone said his mayoral experience didn't county as "experience" for the VP position, how could I be offended? Debating if we should have a 4th of July parade or who we should hire to collect our garbage , while important to us in the town, doesnt count as "experience." Regarding how the Obama camp approaches it, if I'm their leader I'd not approach it UNTIL someone hammers my party about not having enough experience on the ticket.

Especially since the last two elections have shown that in order for the left to win, they must be able to win somewhere other than urban areas.
August 29, 200818 yr This thread had twice the views and 3 times the posts as the thread about Obama's speech. McCain may not be as poor a campaigner as I thought he was.

Perfect timing on Team McCain's part. It almost eliminates the talk of the speech in our "what's the breaking news we need to hear about right now" world. Kudos to the person that came up with the timing.
August 29, 200818 yr Author You know, I never thought I would have a crush on the Vice President of the United States. If Palin wins, I will!!! No doubt. She is smokin'. I keep thinking that a sex video or steamy photos are going to surface; on the one hand I don't want them to, but on the other, I do. Sorry, that's very sexist and insensitive. I apologize.

August 29, 200818 yr IMO...this "is" the nail in the coffin for McCain, not a good selection. Nevertheless, she is under investigation for her firing of a state official, Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. She has been instructed to hand over documents and recordings of telephone conversations as part of the probe, which grew out of allegations she sacked Monegan for refusing to fire her former brother-in-law from the state police.
August 29, 200818 yr Like I have posted in several other threads previously, McCain will win Kentucky. This pick only reinforces that. I am proud to say that at least we will get it right. I'm a veteran and when she called John McCain a hero, I got chills. She gets it, Nobama doesn't.
