I like Justice's game too. Played well at North Hardin. Strong kid, doesn't backdown and sees the court and leads well.

 

Elisha has put in quite a bit of work again this offseason on his physical strength. He understands that physical develpment is a huge part of his basketball development. Also, he's as nice and well mannered a kid as you would want to meet..

Somehow I missed this thread, but better late than never. Yes WIREMAN and FANOFTHE11TH--Ethan Faulkner is the best point guard in the state and he plays as hard as anyone with plenty of grit, heart, and determination of a lion. His resume stacks up with anyone over the last 3 years and he added to it with his sterling summer AAU play that included five game winning shots against the toughest competetion across the country.

 

Evan is a heck of a defensive player, outstanding shooter, and scorer. Don't know that he is a point guard. Don't know what position he is other than just a heck of a player who just plays all over the court. Yes, he can play point and do a good job, but he can play several positions and do a good job.

I agree, he has great heart, and is a joy to watch. He does not have the same skills that Jackson possesses. Not remotely close, IMO, and that's no knock on Ethan. Ethan can shoot the jumper better, no doubt. He cannot break defenders down the same. He cannot touch the top of the square with both hands. I could go on.

Are we talking athletic ability or basketball skills? I witnessed Faulkner break down the best in the country all summer long.

 

Admittedly, I have only recently seen Jackson play once. The game I saw he could not guard Vance Hall, who is a very underated player.

 

Faulkner will lead a team to a win when it looks impossible.

Who does everyone think is the best PG in the state. It seems like a pretty deep position this year. Just to throw some names out there:

 

Elisha Justice

Evan and Ethan Faulkner (I don't know which really plays point)

Josh Whitaker

Chad Jackson

James David Strange

Thomas Jackson

Russ Middleton

 

I know I have left off a lot, but these are some names that stick out to me.

 

Justice and Whitaker are good point guards, but Popp and Gabbard from Boone are right there with them and have proven it in head to head competition over the years.

 

Tate Cox and Wesley Cox are others for consideration. Tate Cox is a smart player, and Wesley Cox and Thomas Jackson are lightning quick.

 

I would consider Chad Jackson more of a 2 guard. His strength seems to be more in slashing than assist making.

Gabbard and Popp deserve the love. These two have had a fantastic summer!!

I'll take Ethan for this discussion. For a poster shot, I would take Jackson. For a season, I would take Ethan, Evan, Barrett Meyer and/or Vance Hall.

If I were to rank my top PGs my top 5 would be:

 

1. Vee Sanford-(considering we are considering him a PG) he really proved himself on the big stage last year IMO. And I watched him have some big regular season games.

2. Chad Jackson-I seen him some this summer and he is very talented. IMO will easily end up being the best PG from this class in the long run. I really think hes going to thrive in an up and down system.

3. Josh Whitaker-I love watching him play. Hes fearless and is very skilled. He almost led Hazard to the final 4 last year when no one else on the team could handle the ball hardly at all.

4. Ethan Faulkner-He is very good, but I myself don't put much stock in summer AAU ball. The defense is horrible in those games. He looks better because he does play hard and thats a testament to him. But I don't think he is as good as the 3 in front of him.

5. Wes Cox-from Ballard, he is very talented and with what he is lacking in size he makes up for in skill and athleticism. I really enjoy watching him play.

If you're going on this summer's play, Jackson led his team to a 3rd place finish in Orlando in the AAU national tournament. Again, I have nothing but respect for Ethan and any coach would love to have him. But if you ask any college coach who could choose between the 2 and I doubt that many would take Ethan over Chad. And once you see him more (which you admittedly haven't) I think Chad will change your thoughts.

 

I also think that for many, the whole transfer issue with Chad and Dakotah will undoubtedly slant some opinions. I mean we had the 3rd player selected in this years NBA draft hacked on in this forum and this board. And it was for no other reason than his school/transfer issues. (unless we have the dumbest basketball evaluators that ever graced a message board here) And I'll finish with this, I have more than likely watched more games with OJ Mayo and with Chad Jackson than anyone who's responded on this thread to date. And I can say with confidence that at the same age, OJ couldn't go to the basket like Chad. (Of course every single other skill OJ had was far superior)

Doc I'm not agreeing with your spin here, Ethan Faulkner has the highest basketball IQ, is no doubt the best floor leader, and without a doubt the most skilled, but most important of all, HE HAS THE BIGGEST HEART!!!!! Evan Faulkner is next best at point.

I just think that Jackson is a BETTER BASKETBALL PLAYER. Thats what I base my top 5 list on.

Jackson is a very talented player and has all the physical tools you want in a basketball player, but all Faulkner does is win. He had an amazing 6 game winning shots this summer including a buzzer beater against arguably the best team in country, Grassroots Canada. He went head to head against a lot of top rated players this summer, and while those players will end up playing at a higher level due to their body type, the result was usually the same, Faulkner just won

And I made a case why I like Jackson. And yes, he can do all of those things better, which will translate to the next level better. FYI,,You get 2 points for throwing it down, going to the basket and scoring, you get points when you can elevate over the press and make the right pass, and I'd think that Elliott fans would agree that you can't trap Chad. Obviously there's no wrong selection or right selection. I'd take Jackson.
