Coach Fraley will have our players in the right direction, the discipline is the area that will make the difference.

:thumb:Not to mention that Rusell was the #1 ranked team in the 16th region that year. And the 63rd district was a whole lot stronger than it is right now. Coach Hicks did an excellent job with that team without any support from the administration. We are so glad to have him at Bath County now.

I'm glad he's in Bath County too..... :dancingpa

What is Hampton's first name and what grade is he in ?

Mike, 10th

How are the football players being fit into the mix since coming out?

Well I don't think that the coaches have given some of the football players a fair chance I know that one of the freshman players was the MVP and was averging 26 points a game last year at wurtland and now they have him at third string on the freshman team. The coach for the freshman team had his team picked before anything was ever started simply from the two of the players that were 8th graders who played at the high school last year. I say give them all a chance to prove them selfs before automatically putting them on the bench because they have been playing another sport.

 I went to a few Wurtland games last year and never saw anyone come close to scoring 26 points. Not even Jackson and he was by far their best player.

Agreed Jackson was an outstanding player but check with the coach from last year and also the points there were 4 games my son scored at least 20 points and up in the games and him and Jackson were voted the mvps of the team. But Jacakson has moved to raceland so he is not the issue here. All I'm saying here is give all the boys a chance to prove them selfs before putting them on the bench. Just because they chose to play football and not come out for basketball when it first started is not a reason to sit them out.

Football players were always punished under Ward. I dont know why anyone thought they wouldnt be under a Ward assistant.

If you can play, you will get the minutes. Greenup is not good enough right now for that stuff.

:sssh: Should have known.

You said your son was averaging 26 points a game. Yet, he scored over 20 points in only 4 games. Those 4 games must have been 50 point efforts. Thats a lot to average when you only go over 20 4 times.

GC has good height but have no real size or strength on the team. That's going to kill them against bigger/stronger teams. Next season should be better.

This coach was an assistant under Ward?

Yeah footballers were punished under Ward, yeah right. Just ask players like Daniel Kitchen, Duke Haywood, Jerry Lucas, etc.. all football standouts who starred on the hardwood for the Musketeers as well under the leadership of Ward. If you were good enough to play you played under Coach Ward, as I'm sure it will be under Fraley. It never ceases to amaze me that so many football supporters were always blaming the success of basketball for its downfall, get over it and stay in the present. Don't judge Fraley just because of his connection to Ward and judge him for what he does from here on out.

#1 keep on naming names, dont use the cop out "etc.", 3 boys is a pretty short list for all the years Ward was there. #2 Duke didnt star on the hardwood, he was one of the best athletes to come through that school and GC was never able to see his full potenial on the hardwood, because he was always limited by Ward and his stlye of play. #3 I was there when Fraley was with Ward, I didnt make a statement just because of his connection with Ward, i know of Ward and Fraley talking boys that played football all the way through middle school out of playing in high school, I heard it with my own ears. I know I'm not the only one on here who knows this as fact, but I might be the only one who will post about it.

To me it sounds as though sour grapes are still just as sour for you as they were 10 years or more. Get over all the negativity and just support GC sports whether it be on the gridiron or hardwood. I no longer have a dog in this fight I just know that GC basketball was once considered to be a contender year in year out and now its not, but I believe that Fraley is the man to lead GC back to were it needs to be. It really is amazing looking back that Ward was able to survive 20 years of all of this nonsense. Best Wishes to GC hoops. Now I see why I stay away from this nonsense.
