To me it sounds as though sour grapes are still just as sour for you as they were 10 years or more. Get over all the negativity and just support GC sports whether it be on the gridiron or hardwood. I no longer have a dog in this fight I just know that GC basketball was once considered to be a contender year in year out and now its not, but I believe that Fraley is the man to lead GC back to were it needs to be. It really is amazing looking back that Ward was able to survive 20 years of all of this nonsense. Best Wishes to GC hoops. Now I see why I stay away from this nonsense.
#1 No Answer #2 No Answer #3 No Answer... I just hate to see some of the best athletes in the school limited to playing basketball only.

First of all, let's get over this insane argument of playing favorites or whatever you call it. Sports have all specialized over the years and it has paid off with the talent and ability of most, if not all of the players. Most football players are not willing to play basketball and vice versa. The all around talents like Eric Craft at GC and Tyler Boyles at Raceland are exceptions. Any coach worth their salt will play the best players at any sport. Now, do football players have a disadvantage when they go out for basketball after missing several weeks of team practice and having to miss summer AAU ball for summer 2 a day football practice? YES. But I guarantee you the ones that can make the quick adjustment will have playing time on the hardwood. You never hear this same argument regarding baseball players that are now playing deep into the summer and in some instances playing fall ball and how this affects their football playing time.

And lastly, this absurd argument that a middle school scoring machine has been relegated to 3rd string as punishment for playing football? Middle school sports in general cannot be compared to how a maturing high school athlete can play. I was a good basketball player at McKell and I wasn't good enough to play on the GC freshman team. Now that becomes even more evident when I try and play in a 4 on 4 church league team at the ripe old age of 40.

I'd like to offer this exhibit as it was used previously in the football forum regarding the state of GC football.

Thank you, spindoc. Very appropriate.:thumb:

Football players were always punished under Ward. I dont know why anyone thought they wouldnt be under a Ward assistant.

Coach Fraley will not punish any kid for playing a different sport, it's not going to happen, he will play the best kids that he thinks will win the game for him, that is a ridiculous comment Coupon 21, sorry bro but I know better on this one..

Coach told me yesterday to speak to a couple of his players and try and get them to play football too and we are talking about a couple of his better players, he wants to see the school excel at all levels so if he was doing what you are saying he was doing back then, he is not doing it now, I know that to be a fact.

The bottomline is that many at GC always blamed the downfall of the football program on the success of the basketball program under the leadership of Ward. The reality is that its been more about a lack of discipline and leadership. Some of the best talent on the gridiron was spoiled under the leadership of Bill Baldridge at GC, who never seemed to be able to control his troops. The inmates all too often ruled the assylum that was GC football. However when Gary McPeek took over and then TJ Maynard, more discipline equalled more wins (Three straight District Titles). Don't blame the success of one for the downfall of another. GC basketball is in goodhands, now hope that the same can be said for the Football program soon.

I really hope your right. But until I see some of them on the football field Im going to be skeptical.

I would like to see Trey and Dustin as wideouts. They have a better chance of playing D1 football. 6'4 or taller wideouts are really hard to come by.

Keep dreamin' Alice, wonderland is just a head................... Coupon21 has a better chance of growing past 6 foot than either boy playing football at GC.

I just wrote it down and will be asking for you to sign the bottom of it Rec. I heard Hampton said he was playing this year, but then I heard that his family would only let him play one sport. As for Dustin I hope your right, he is a great receiver. Trey has great hands also but wont play, i know that for sure. I still dont believe that Fraley will let this happen, then again I pray that you are right.
