OK. You will agree that teens consume alcohol, correct? Arent they getting it from the same store I buy my beer? My point is that whether its alcohol or drugs, if a teen wants them they will get them. Can we agree that accessibility of drugs for kids is no greater than it is for alcohol? If so, who am I really harming? Why can't I enjoy my weed, eat Doritos , and watch movies?

So just because kids can gain access to it we should make it legal? BTW I bet I could make two or three phone calls and get my hands on some X, or cocaine, maybe we should make that legal next too. I mean if I just do it in my own home, then who am I hurting, right. But just make it so that you can only do it in the privacy of your own home? People that want to stay at home and get drunk in their own home don't pose a threat to anyone, they're just alcoholics. Which is totally safe, people drunk in their own home always make rational decisions and stay in their own home .

Not all marijuana convictions require jail time under federal sentencing guidelines, but all are eligible for imprisonment. If convicted and sentenced to jail, a minimum of 85% of that sentence must be served. The higher the marijuana amount, the more likely one is to be sentenced to jail time, as opposed to probation or alternative sentencing. Low-level offenses, even with multiple prior convictions, may end up with probation for the entire sentence of one to twelve months, and no jail time required.

You can cite these references all day but I was under the impression that someone said you cannot go to jail. You will go to jail but may not have to serve time, there is a difference. I know that with a marijuana possession there is no mandatory jail time but once you get arrested you go to jail and like I stated earlier, you'll go to jail.

The pituitary gland is also damaged which regulates hunger, thirst, blood pressure, sexual behavior, and release of sex hormones.

Marijuana accumulates in the microscopic spaces between nerve cells in the brain called "synapses." This clogging interferes by slowing and impairing transfer critical information.

Long term use causes the brain to stop production of brain chemicals necessary to "feel good" - a negative feedback condition. And, the user becomes chemically addicted to marijuana.

So following your logic, we should completely ban alcohol too?

You do realize that prohibition was one of the main reasons organized crime began to flourish in the U.S. right?

Birdsfan, I respect you more than almost any poster on this board, and like I said I am not condoning, I just hate to see something no matter what it is get ripped to shreds over something that is not even true when pertaining to it.
I'm just trying to debunk the idea that marijuana is harmless. The effects are real.

And I'm saying that is not the case in all states.

Yes. Doesn't matter. I've also know of the effects of alcohol. I still drink.

Why do you allow me to drink to excess but not get high?

There are warnings, and it's considered taboo, to drink excessively, sure it happens but it's much harder to regulate an individuals consumption of alcohol.

Will you be wearing a headband while doing this?

HAHAHA Awesome:thumb:

I've seen people really drunk and I've seen people really high. Really drunk people are much more dangerous IMO...

Those are just things that could happen with excessive use. I would bet that if you searched compared the same categories listed above to that of the excessive use of chocolate, tylenol, or whatever it may be then you would be supperised the see the similarity in the potential effects. You can take almost anything, diet pills, potato chips, whatever you want, find a list at possible effects and come up with a list similar to this. Goes to show you can take almost anything and make it bad for you, IMO.

And other than the could cause emphysema and Bronchitis, not too many severe things on the list if you ask me. Pretty much just says it causes munchies, and could cause you to be lazy, only in medical terminology.

I've seen people really drunk and I've seen people really high. Really drunk people are much more dangerous IMO...

Me too on so many occasions. Alcohol is far worst than Marijuana. Yet it is illegal. IMO if the US Government could control and tax marijuana then yet it too would be legalized. However, they cannot make money on it, cannot not control it so they say why bother we will keep it illegal. The same way moonshine is illegal, not because they are worried that its too strong (there is legal alcohol on the market that is just as strong, everclear, abstinth, etc) but because they can no control the sale of it and profit.

I'm just trying to debunk the idea that marijuana is harmless. The effects are real.

You could make anything seem harmful with over use, no matter if it is abusing diet pills, or over eating. If marijuana was really, really harmful than with as many users as there is in the world we live in then there would be more overdose deaths than what there have been so far, zero.

:thumb: The chemicals in paint can mess you up too. If we're going to legalize alcohol, what's the problem with allowing people to smoke marijuana in the privacy of their homes?

If we are proving points lol...then Glade and air in a can should be BANNED b.c I watched an intervention show on a girl who was so messed up all b/c she huffed air in a can, and I know someone who died in Middle school who was huffing glade. That's scary and awful. There are so many things out there that are legal that can hurt you worse than things that are illegal if you ask me.

Everyone ask yourself this question also, those who are supporting this.

Yes or No

Do you want your kids to smoke marijuana inside their own house?
