How about everyone who believes this clear off a lot in their neighborhood for the kids to play, stop taking them to organized leagues, ban summer basketballand ban football practice before August. Stop organizing select teams and quit clocking 9 year olds with a radar guns.

This is amazing.

Is the co-ed league the only league around for this kid? I think this is as dumb as the next person, but competition is rarely the heart of a co-ed league.

The kid should be able to pitch, the other kids should just learn to hit better.

Unbelievable. However if I was the boy's parent I would find him a more competitive league if possible. My son was once intentionally walked 2 out of the 3 times he came up to bat in a 11/12 year old championship game and that really upset me. He wanted a chance just like the other kids. It wasn't much fun for him. But I guess fun doesn't matter anymore in some youth sports leagues.

I'm just amazed, that this would be the decision by adults.

 

Age structure is in place for a reason and this young man, is exceptional in the Leagues eye but banning him, wow.

 

Do they consider sending down, those who struggle. Who has the final say, in determining what is "too good". Sad, sad day in youth Baseball, when a League for kids, bans a kid.

 

I hope all the parents involved, have the courage to look in their mirror each morning and not turn away.

Well, I'd get redemption when they turn 10 and I'm able to pitch again and earhole the first kid I see. That'll teach em.

I'm curious to find out, what organization this League belongs to.

Most of the kids on my team threw over 40mph when I was 9. I remember all of us going to the speed pitch in the Green Section of Riverfront. We all had certificates that showed the speed we threw.

You've got to be kidding me! First of all, 40 mph is not that fast for a 9 year old, 60 mph is, but not 40. Heck, our youth league 7-8 year olds hit off of a 38 mph pitching machine. Maybe if he is throwing breaking pitches, but a 40 mph fastball is no big deal to most 9 year olds, at least those that I know! Secondly, God forbid someone might be better than someone else's kid. Give me a break, if he's that dominant, then the others better catch up or not play baseball. If they see him enough, they will eventually hit him.

In fact, Scott plays in it when he isn't suiting up for the Will Power Fitness team in the LJB.

But in that other league, Jericho doesn't dominate.

 

And that, I suspect, is the real genesis of this story.

 

 

It appears everyone has jumped on this one a bit too soon. The kid has already been playing on an advanced team. He and another all-star player are mid-season additions to a developmental team that needed them to win a championship. I think that is the coach that they should be upset with.

If he gets on base, that great. I was a lefty who crowded the plate. I wanted to get a walk or get hit, so I could steal 2nd and 3rd. I was on base probably 90% of the time, and maybe had 6-8 hits a year. You don't need to get the hit to be important.
