Thanks for the info. We havn't heard as much about Flannery. Didn't realize his dad was going to Richmond and Wolfe Co.

Ron has been doing that for years, but with the gas prices, I can see why he wanted to move closer!

But (and this is a big but), is Mom keeping her job with the Boone County Board of Education and commuting back and forth to Boone County from Scott County? If Mom is taking a new job down there, then to me it is legit but if not........

What does mom do for the Boone Co Bd? Is she a teacher?

This deal is just like the other two and whatever reason being said for the move from the parents, the one real true reason is basketball and tradition of Scott County basketball. It will be interesting to see what the BOC does, some touchy decisions come in the future.

Good for Austin. I wish them all luck.

The Flannery's old residence was in the northern tip of Boone Co. Dad's daily commute was anywhere from 4-5 hours a day. He also consults with school districts all over the state of KY. I know this because he was in our district in SE KY last week. This move to central KY cut his daily drive by two hours a day. What the paper left out was that the move was also due to personal health reasons.

They moved to the northern most exit on I-75 in Georgetown, which would allow mom to drive to Florence in 40 minutes. It was taking her 20 minutes from their old residence to get to the schools she worked at when they lived in Boone. End result mom added 40 minutes to her drive, dad cut 120 minutes off his daily drive. I don't think gas had anything to do with the move, just decreasing dad's daily commute.

Good luck to Austin he is a very good young man:thumb:

Nice kid, nice family. Best of luck to them.

For someone who knows, what would be the reason for Flannery not be ruled eligible? Is there any quotes out where he or his family has mentioned basketball in any way? Just on paper this seems worse than Euton (although I think him being ineligible is wrong too) because, unless it just hasn't been presented I have seen no quotes from his dad. Like it said in the article, the only thing a person can go by is facts.

There is No reason this kid shouldn't be eligible!!!

The family moved for good reason and nowhere have I seen anyone closely related to the family mention basketball as a contributing factor at all.

Seems to me that the commissioner needs to look at each case as an individual and base decsions on the merits of each case and she didn't do that.

That's not fair to the Kid!! Let him play!

Im sure Mr. Flannery learned his lesson from the Euton debacle and is keeping quiet.

Lets be honest those kids all played "BALL" together on AAU teams the past 5 yrs and they want to continue in high school. Regardless of why the parents are moving they should just let em play.

Good reasoning.:thumb:

To me there is no reason not to let all three of the boys play this year based on the current KHSAA rules. I think it's fairly obvious to eveyone that all three of them ending up at Scott County was no coincidence, but all three had bonafide moves, so IMO let them play. The only way to prevent this from continuing to happen is to make all kids set out a year if they transfer to another school regardless of the circumstances. It seems unfair to some, but it could become an epidemic if people continue to find loop holes in the system your going to have some loaded teams that do not have home grown talent.
