August 13, 200818 yr I woke up at 6 AM (first time in 10 years) to watch the 2nd half of the U.S. soccer team. I am greatly disappointed. I know, I know - they had a good showing considering... I just think its terribly disappointing that they missed on an opportunity to make it to the quarters. They were actually a better team than The Netherlands at this Olympics. To go ahead and make matters worse, they have a player throw a stupid elbow and get red-carded in the 4th minute of today's game. I think U.S. soccer needs an overhaul to be able to compete at world events.

August 13, 200818 yr The men's soccer team was eliminated this morning after yet another poor performance on the international stage. The Netherlands game slipped away from us and we had to play a man down against Nigeria. There's no hope against that. One of these days we'll figure something out.

They were also missing two of their better players because they had gotten consecutive yellow cards in the two previous games.

Someone I was watching with pointed this out also... And I agree... On a side note, did anyone else think that Bela Karolyi was awesome in his analysis? :lol: He knows what he is talking about, is a USA homer, and every chance he got talked about China's underage gymnast... Even at the end he said "China had a great performance... But it was with underage gymnast that were 14 and 15 and shouldn't be legally competing.... But nevertheless, it was a great performance"
