August 13, 200818 yr While I'm upset that China won, they did WIN and we lost. Goodness. ***** As the gymnast at the centre of the controversy, Alicia Sacramone, admitted nerves got the better of her in the women's team final against China, USA Gymnastics distanced itself the from remarks made by Martha Karolyi, the team co-ordinator. Karolyi said immediately after the US loss to China that officials at Beijing's National Indoor Stadium disrupted Sacramone's beam routine by delaying her performance for an extended period, breaking her concentration. "First they called her name up, then they did not even put her name up even though the Chinese had finished … (it was) totally unusual holding," she said. http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/news?slug=afp-oly2008gymnasticswomenteamusa&prov=afp&type=lgns
August 13, 200818 yr What's next for Karolyi? They cheered too loud for the Chinese? Could be. I know it would break my concentration if the crowd cheered really loudly for one of their own.
August 13, 200818 yr The men's soccer team was eliminated this morning after yet another poor performance on the international stage. The Netherlands game slipped away from us and we had to play a man down against Nigeria. There's no hope against that. One of these days we'll figure something out. I am as disappointed with this Olympic performance by the U.S. team as I have ever been with the national team. They blew it big time.

I turned on the match at 5am, was excited to see how they would do. They proceed to get a red card the first four minutes, whether justified or not, that ended that match. Just awful.

Just awful. I woke up and the score as 1-0 and they were playing 10 against 11. I kind of wished I had just slept. :fight:
August 13, 200818 yr With banjo or without? Only if Ned Beatty is involved in some way, then sure.
August 13, 200818 yr I'm looking forward to the start of track and field. Yep, me too. It all starts tomorrow night at 9pm.
August 13, 200818 yr I just hope all our athletes can stay healthy. Really that's been the only downer of these Olympics. I think we'd have alot more medals, including some more golds if it wasn't for injuries. Which I understand each country deals with, just seems like we've dealt with it alot this year. Well that and the Chinese CHEATERS!!!!!
August 13, 200818 yr After watching the manly softball player crush a pitch one-handed over the right field fence for the U.S., I'm sure there are other countries saying the same about us

They should know by now. Americans rock! I really don't understand why people from other countries think we're egotistical and over bearing....
August 13, 200818 yr Author We did some damage on that other thread. I was glad so many people were interested. Hopefully our Men's Gymnasts do well tonight?
