July 29, 200818 yr You want elite teams? How about all the teams in the SEC excerpt for Vandy and UK? Could add a few other teams to the list like, ND,OSU,USC,FSU,Penn St.,Michigan,Texas,Okahoma and Nebrasks. Miss St. and Ole Miss are bad
July 29, 200818 yr Notre Dame USC Michigan Ohio State Florida Florida State Texas Oklahoma Nebraska Penn State Georgia Alabama I'm for sure leaving Georgia off the list, too much mediocrity to be called elite. Heck, I'd take Tennessee before Georgia...... Florida and Texas are johnny come lately's IMO, though Texas was fairly solid in the 90's. IMO Elite means consistently winning at a top 25 level for a lengthy number of years, with a handfull of conference titles and a national championship or two sprinkled in.

But, Texas is a no doubter.
July 29, 200818 yr Texas are johnny come lately's IMO, though Texas was fairly solid in the 90's. Actually, there Johnny come 1963, 1969, 1970 & 2005.
July 29, 200818 yr Of course there was those 3 titles in the 60's 1963 & 1969...When was the other one???
July 29, 200818 yr I would have to agree with you. Penn State is a yes, but Florida state is a no. Hmm.. well i guess two national championships, two heisman trophy winners, being ranked in the top five for fourteen straight years (87-00), not to mention the winningest coach in college football history is not enough? Well their 2 Championships are in the 90's. Yes they were great in the 90's but haven't been in the 2000's really. Also did nothing before the 90's. 1st ACC confrence tittle was 1992. IMO I don't think being good for a decade is elite.
July 29, 200818 yr 1963 & 1969...When was the other one??? 70 I didn't look it up. Close enough. Point is that Johnny come lately had 3 titles in a short span.
