So with the things the way they are right now do you agree with the fan voting? Did they get it right this year in both leagues?

IMO not in the NL. Soto over McCann is a joke.

McCann's numbers...

ABs 255, Runs, 35, 2B 22, 3B 1, HR 14, RBI 44, Walks 28, SO 32, SB 1, Avg 310, OBP 383, Slg 569

Soto's Numbers.....

ABs 248, Runs 26, 2B 20, 3B 1, HR 12, RBI 43, Walks 34, SO 65, SB 0, Avg 274, OBP 358, SLG 508

I know it's fan voting but when it comes to home field for the World Series I think they should be putting the best players out there.

Also I think Griffey should not be even close to the top OF'ers in the NL. Oh well though I guess that's what we get when fans vote.

I believe they are pretty accurate in my opinion. As for Griffey, you sure can tell that he is a fan favorite across the nation, can't ya?

Yeah...

I wouldn't call Soto a joke, McCann's numbers are only slightly better, not as much as Griffey being voted a starter, whats more impressive is that Soto is a rookie.

I think it should be...

OF- Ryan Ludwick (having a great year)

Just because you have the best record in baseball doesn't mean any one player has had a better year than another player.

Say player A and player B both play SS and player A is batting .320 with 17 HR's and 40 RBI's while player B is batting .297 with 14 HR's and 30 RBI's.

But player B's team is in 1st while Player A's team is in 4th (in division).

Because of that does player B get the start. IMO no, because it's supposed to be the best at each position. Team records should have no influence on voting whatsoever.

Consider the All-Star game is about letting the fans see who they want to see, yeah, I think they got it spot on.

Soriano is hurt. Derek Lee does not get in because of Berkman. Ramirez does not get in because of Chipper. Fukedome is not having THAT GREAT of a year, for a rookie yes, but not better than Ludwick or McLouth. McCann is having a better year than Soto.

Kerry Wood, Zambrano, and Dempster all deserve to make the team though.

A few weeks back Soto was supposedly the unquestioned leader for rookie of the year...

I think David Murphy of Texas should be getting some consideration.

Avg HR RBI Runs SB

274 10 51 42 5

LBBC is correct. As long as the starting lineup is determined by the fans, one must assume that's who they want to see. Are the choices always the best choices according to the stats? Of course not. But it is first and foremost a popularity contest.

And the fact that he's the leader in All-Star voting at catcher doesn't change that.

Yes because ROY should definately be based off of popularity.
