He's still on pace to have right around 200 K's

Not when you factor in this stretch as the trend. Only 22 in 6 games...

So an in between 4 innings the day after you threw on the side couldn't trigger arm issues that were inevitable at some point in the near future? His velocity and location were fine to that point. Since then, only once in 7 starts. Coincidence? Yeah right...

Major league pitchers should be on a pretty strict throwing regime.

Throwing on the side is a crucial part of effective starting pitching & is oftentimes overlooked.

Could it trigger arm issues? Maybe. Any pitch can trigger arm issues.

If there are arm issues, those should have been addressed already or should be immediately. The problem is, I don't think the issues are with his arm. Harang has said that he feels fine, physically.

Where did I say it's the only factor? I didn't. But you simply can't deny it's a big factor in his recent slide...

I'm not saying you said it was the only factor. But a lot of people on here are making it out to be the only reason he's pitching poorly, but it's not. I'm sure it is a factor as to why he has been struggling and I would have skipped one of his starts by now. I read somewhere that an advanced scout said his mechanics haven't been the same for a while now, causing his control issues. You would think a Major League pitching coach would be able to notice that. Part of the blame must be placed on him, part of the blame must be place on Harang for not performing, and part of the blame must be placed on Dusty for leaving him in the game in San Diego far to long.

He is. He threw on the side the day before the debacle.

Harang is not going to say a word if it's just fatigue. His arm could be falling off and he's going to want the ball in 5 days. I think he needs 15 days on the DL, and most of this should take care of itself. Right now, it's getting counterproductive to keep running him out there without some time off...

Are you really listing throwing on the side the day before as an excuse? Are things that bad for Harang, or is this rain delay really just that boring?

A "strict" regime requires you to throw daily.

I agree that sending him out there every 5th day is counterproductive. I'm not sure if a trip to the DL is necessary or not, but I don't think it could hurt...

You're getting your semantics wrong big time. Starters generally throw one full bullpen session between starts. His was the day prior to throw 4 extra innings.

I don't see how anyone can ignore how much that debacle has changed Harang. You are watching him pitch, right???

Wow. He caught that with his bare hand...

That my friends, is why Griffey doesn't try to bunt more often.

He has said that his arm is not bothering him. While he's tough, I don't think he's stupid enough to ignore an arm issue that could threaten his career.

I agree with this. Even if it's 'tired arm' a Major League pitcher would notice something is wrong with his stuff. And if he has noticed and hasn't said anything, then he deserves to be pounded around like he has been getting.

I didn't know that things didn't work out with BP in Cleveland and he ended up getting dealt to Cincinnati. I'm glad George and Chrissy told me that.

That's what it takes to get some genuine emotion out of Dunn. Would explain why we don't see that much of it.

I can see something is wrong with his stuff. So can you. I doubt Harang thinks his stuff is looking good...
