Here is what I have heard.

The Fugate family doesn't want Doug because that means Channing doesn't get to be the point guard and he will not play for Doug. He left the middle school to return to Perry County because they were not satisfied with Doug as a coach. The Allen family wants Ryan to run the point, so they will not be satisfied with having Doug back and Nick at the point. I guess it will come down to which family has the most influence. Fugate and Allen are great football players and they want to keep football on top, but Doug can bring Nick and other family members to help improve the basketball team. It will be interesting to see who wins the battle.

 

Whether that's true or not, I don't know, nor will I make a guess. I will say that Nick Noble is a much better PG than anyone on Breathitt County's current roster, or walking the halls of the high school?

Does anyone know when the Breathitt job will be filled? When was the job posted? Is the Breathitt admin going to wait the full 30 days? If the job is not filled in the next few days, and Doug does eventually accept the position, it puts Owsley in a very difficult spot. If Doug is as honorable as most people say, he should committ to Owsley for next season, or go ahead and resign. If he is going to have faith that Breathitt will keep him beyond one or two seasons, he should have faith they are going to hire him. He needs to make a decision ASAP. -- I am surprised the Owsley admin has not called him in and given him an ultimatum --- either withdraw from Breathitt or resign from Owsley. Owsley County has been very good to Doug. They gave him an opportunity when his home town school wouldn't. Despite winning only 5 games, the Owsley admin. has pledged their full 100% support and backing to Noble for next year and the distant future. He has a secure job, and can be coach there as long as he wants. -- Despite this tremondous support, he evidently does not feel the same and would rather return to the very shaky situation in Breathitt. If this is his choice, he should at least have the honor and decency to resign from Owsley to give them the best opportunity to find an adequate replacement. He owes them that much.

I agree with this assessment. Coach Noble needs to let Owsley County know something as quickly as possible. They will need time to find a replacement, and that chore is much more difficult late in the summer. By that time most potential prospective coaches have already committed to other schools for the upcoming year. Owsley has been caught in that position before, and it makes the search and hiring ordeal much more difficult.

I agree, the time is now to resign or make a commitment to Owsley County. Also it is that time of year when teachers must sign their contracts, without his signature that may be taken as a go ahead and find a new coach.:sssh:

Maybe Breathitt hasn't offered the job yet. Going by previous posts, it's possible that they may be undecided if he's who they want. Noble could be in trouble if BOTH schools moved on without him. I wouldn't be surprised. What a mess this Supt. has created.

This is getting quite comical! Owsley gave the guy an oppurtunity and this is how he repays them. This seems pretty classless to me. Someone needs to just make a decision.

Doug reads this forum, or at least hears about it. Those of us that know and respect him agree that he needs to do the right thing and give Owsley's administration an answer.

I heard that the administration is seeking Coach Whitaker from Hazard, along with the 2 young athletes that he would bring???But I doubt they will make the move to Jackson---politics will win out--IMO.

As for what Nick said, he would be going to Breathitt to register sometime this week.

Has anyone been interviewed for the job yet? I was under the impression that the applicants would be interviewed by the site based council and they would make the decision on who the coach would be. How can the job be offered to someone if there has been no interviews? I heard that Roscoe Denny was interested. Has he applied?

The only two people that has applied is Doug and Kyle.
